Sunburn Party

Lots of the music at Sunburn was cancelled last year due to local protests - remember seeing photos in local paper of people just standing around waiting for things to happen.
River Princess still there and suppose if you ask next year will still give you the same answer - would like to have told you - No it has gone. :)

Yes we went last year and have got our tickets again for this year. It was a brilliant 3 days. Yes they had to close down on the Saturday evening because of noise levels but everything was back to normal the next day. Would thoroughly recommend it, everyone was very friendly and had a great time, we danced all Sunday afternoon through to the end of the evening and were absolutely filthy with all the dust though and I could hardly walk afterwards but we had a great time. Takes me back to my young clubbing days for 3 days of my holiday and I even saw people older than me which made me feel better. Maybe we will see you there. Robbie is going too. If you are going to the meet ups beforehand we will see you there, we go out on 11 December for 3 weeks.

Can you give a link or confirm that chicane are playing at Sunburn 2009? That would be interesting.

Last year the generator was pulled about 8 p.m just as John 00 Fleming was supposed to do his set. Don't know if he was in the country at the time. Simon Dunmore (Defected) managed to play, but Eddie Halliewell (top of the bill) was another headliner no show. Defected knew it was gong to be a political bribery non event. No surprises there.

Good that DJ Pearl, and the usual suspects from Mambo's, Tito's, West End and Lounge Fly filled the spaces while the generator was paid enough to work. Fantastic that Indian DJ/ music talent is coming up and making a name for itself. When will Sunburn publish the confirmed bookings?

Candolim beach (as it is now) is not the correct venue for this kind of event, and I can understabd why locals get extremely annoyed.

i did not say that chicane are playing at sunburn, they are down to play at the bacardi blive event on dec 19th,check their website for details,
last year at sunburn john 00 fleming had started his set when the music went off.they wont have eddie halliwell play as he blew the event out last time-be very surprised if he did turn up
most of the dj lineup has now been confired and is on the sunburn/submerge web site with possible another few act's tbc

I don't want to be a party pooper, but I hope they move the venue, it was virtually outside my apartment, and the noise was awful, all we could hear was loads of boom boom noise from the bass I had to evict myself from the apartment for a few days,

not again, this event was horrid last year
one of the most embarrassing things i have ever seen
lodes of druggies falling about the streets
bass so loud you can't hear your self think

I am very surprised at your comments about druggies Angelswitch as this certainly wasn't the norm inside the event. I was quite impressed with how everyone behaved and just enjoyed themselves last year otherwise I wouldn't have booked to go again this year. It does annoy me how everyone always links drugs to dancing and music all the time. There are still an awful lot of people out there who go for the music and dancing and not the drugs. I was there for 3 days and didn't think it was any different to any other club I would go to in the UK. Okay you are always going to get the element of drug takers but they are in the minority not the majority, just as you get people who always drink too much and never know when they have had enough. Sorry Lin b about the noise but at least you know what you are in for now!

Yet another case of bad management by Goan's / Indians.

It wouldn't take a rocket scientist to work out that Candolim is not the ideal location for this event.

Why did they not decide to have this at Anjuna, Vagator or Club Cubana.

Candolim is hardly clubber central.

If you look at it from a Tourist board point of view, why introduce some 'alien' activity to an area which is mainly inhabited by older tourists or those looking for a bit peace and quiet. Noise problems are a given round here.

can only comment on what i saw as i sat in the roadhouse and that was young and not so young Brits so drugged up they had to crawl away from the police, who did nothing about this ante social behavior as usual
was hoping that after the mess last year that would be the last of it, the ccb strip is not the place for this,
to many boring folks like me that want to hear themselves think.
never mind there's always ear plugs and honey bee :cheers

I am surprised you say it was Brits as us whities were in the minority, it was mostly Indians in there. I'm sure it can't have been Robbie and Co as they were quite mobile with all their faculties whilst we were with them in there! As we say - can't please all the people all of the time and it is only 3 days and there is a long stretch of beach to get away from the noise, it does finish at 10 pm which I don't think is that late.

unfortunately the noise is very loud at the Santana beach hotel were we stay
can't say anything about the Indian's its there country
it was the Brits that i found embarrassing
I'm there for 3months so your rite 3 days is nothing but for some who are only there for 7 days its half there holiday gone
this happened last year to someone in our hotel
they left with a very bad impression of Goa vowing never to return
:offtop
were not on the same flight this year Brenliz so wont see you at the airport
so enjoy yourselves :D

im quite shocked and suprised at angelswitch's posting.as brenliz said we were definatly in the minority as it was full of indians and hardly any europeans in there, this must of been outside the event as the police were not inside?maybe these so called young brits who were drugged up as it is put were from outside the event and came from the shacks,of all the times ive been to goa ive seen worse in the streets and the bars in th ccb belt with druggies and worse trouble???-to blame it on the event i feel is harse and belive in some way just aimed at sunburn as they seem to get it right,
these events happen all over the place at xmas and new year yes i agree it should be further away but it is one of the only places in the area that it can be held as there is ample space there.
i go there to see the acts and do something different, experience something more than the bars, also this is not the first time that music has been involved in goa-go back years and i bet no-one had bad words about all the hippies dancing away,
this has happened and yes i do feel sorry for people who live in and around the area but as brenliz says it finishes at 10pm so its not late, this xmas i am staying at a guest house near the end of titos road but i wont be saying bad words about the music when i go to bed even though ive never and will never step foot in the club there not my scene,
this thread could go on forever but i feel its bad and wrong to say these brits drugged up came from sunburn as i never saw nothing like that the three days i was in there.....

I can assure you we were really searched well every time we went in. I even had to argue with the security to let me take my sun lotion in there. I have to say I was really impressed with the security. As Robbie says this argument could go on forever.
Reply
not arguing just a different opinion
and the reason i think they came from sunburn is they appeared the same time as every body ells that was leaving
and i never saw them after the event finished?
so as an outsider looking in without rose tinted glasses i can only hope it gets called off as in my view its just BOOM BOOM BOOM
now I'm getting a migraine just thinking about it so i will go for a lie down in the peace and quiet wile i can ;)

I think we have to remember this is an Indian festival for Indian people. We are the visitors. It is not our place to tell them what they can and can't do in their own country. I am sure you will enjoy the rest of your time in Goa. Sorry but I don't think it will be cancelled, too many tickets have been sold and it brings money into the country.
