The minute the tour operators release there brochures for summer 2010, I was looking to book my holiday for 2010 in Cattolica, Rimini, Italy. at this time I was unable to find anything online, so I checked with the local shop, and I was told it should be up in the next two weeks, which basicly wasnt true. I emailed the customer services, asking them if they have dropped this resort, and could they explain why, they did not answer my question, but told me it should be up in the next few weeks
At this point I gave up, as I was going away on holiday, when I arrived in Cattolica, I ask the hotel rep, if she has any idea of what is happening with summer 2010 holidays, at least here I got an answer
Thomas cook/airtours wont know until sept 2009 if this resort will be kept on there brochures, but it looks like they are going to drop rimini from there brochures, some of the holiday reps are disgusted at this as they have worked in this resort for 10 yrs and they love the places, as wll as all the uk holiday makers who reurn year after year to this resort
As for the hotels, there not happy about this, the hotel that I stayed in is 90% uk holiday makers, so this hotel would be affected the most, as they would now have to find other holiday makers to fill there rooms
The holiday rep also pointed out, rimini is not the only resort that might be affected by this, there well could be others
I have looked many times for holiday to the parts you mention and its so difficult to find a tour op who does something different to serento, back in the 80's and into the 90's every tour would go to the adriatic coast. I noticed the lack of holidays to the adriatic when bigger tour ops started swallowing up the smaller tour ops in the late 80's and to the 90's. No doubt if the adriatic coast was a geman favorite there would loads of holidays on sell for the region because the 2 big boys being german owned.
have you tried one of the larger independents, A1 travel,Fleetway travel, Hayes travel [or pick your own] they build normal and bespoke holidays
The company i work for have started working with an Italian Travel Agency that do a varied amount of accommodation throughout much of italy i believe.
Not sure how far in advance they work as we have not long been dealing with them but for Rimini area we have taken quite a few bookings for them.
Let me know if you need any help and i will see what i can do for you.
Cheers
Have been checking holidays for lido de Jeselo summer 2010, and it looks like thomas cook not using there own planes, but rather flybe are doing the flights
Last year i booked to go to Flamingo oasis alot of things happened at the hotel and i wanted to change. TC made out for a number of weeks that they knew nothing about the problems and they still had a contract. I kept telling them everything i knew and after about 2 months they changed my holiday and told me everything i had already told them i also informed them that Thomson fully owned the hotel they said that was not true, which was wrong as they now have NO contract with the said hotel.
