We are just back from a twin centre holiday in Barbados. First hotel was one we had been to before- Sunswept in Holetown. Had been going to review it today but review site is down just now. This is a great budget hotel. We did it DIY but Virgin does this one too. Not much has changed since our last visit. A major plus is that there is never a problem with sunbeds. They have plenty. Staff are friendly. Cocomos next door has changed to Zachios but it was just as good a restaurant. Surfside is near by and is very popular with ex pats. Happy hour is worth while but we also ate there a couple of times and it is just as good as the better looking restaurants. Steel drum group is worth seeing on a Sunday.
We also ate at Angry Annies and Elbow Room. Ragamuffins- we both got slight food poisoning from. Holetown was not as busy as I had expected but this is an island wide problem.
We did spend a day without a case- Flybes fault as they put the wrong code on the case. However, BA gave us £70 to tide us over and promised the case had been located and would be delivered the next day- it was. We actually did not need to buy anything as, since a holiday with no luggage at all, we have used the hand luggage to capacity. The two cases we use have a mixture of both of our things.
I can't write a big trip report as this time we did nothing but relax as both of us have had stressful times at work recently. We have seen most of what Barbados has already.
Weather was far better than I thought it would be. We arrived to rain but as we did not reach the hotel until after 4pm it didn't matter for us. We had a day of rain but had a wander around the shops and a seat at the beach bar in the afternoon We did find a lot more humid than we have had before, but its the first time we have been in the summer.
Will write about the Bougainvillea ( Heather- what a gem this is ) and St Lawrence Gap tomorrow.
Welcome home Fi! Good to hear you had a relaxing holiday
