Wizard,
You can drop off in front of Terminal 3. The terminal is quite smart as it has been refurbished and has a nice approach now. Be warned though - drop off means just that!
Nivsy
Found this pic, of drop off area, dont know how up to date it is as I have'nt used Heathrow for a while, I'm usually a Gatwick traveller.

Angie.
thanks both.. although i go to Heathrow fairly often on business i go to the various company offices which have their own parking, I'm doing a mate a favor and dropping him and his missus of as their son has the kids to look after [single parent] and they are off for 6 weeks to visit the other son in Australia.. i usually fly from Luton or Gatwick [and i find gatwick too big]
Can anyone recommend a good bar in T3 departures where you can watch the flights coming and going?
Does Heathrow have Disabled Parking available for 3 weeks and is it close to terminal 3.?
The terminal 3 long stay car park does offer disabled facilities. You could, if suitable. also consider the meet and greet service which may be a little more expensive but they meet you at terminal 3, then take away the vehicle for parking, and meet you again on return.
Does anyone know if the links between terminals at Heathrow run through the night. We are looking at getting into the central bus station at about 3am and need to get out to Terminal 4.
Thanks Nivsy. Change of plan now, we are going to stop over the night before.
We are going to London for an overnight stay this weekend and have booked the Jurys Inn at Heathrow airport. Its a good 30 minute tube ride from the centre but got a bargain price!! Booked it through laterooms- £39 for a triple room, there are only 2 of us but the triple was cheaper than the double. Reviews are pretty good and seems like an ideal stopover for Heathrow. Has anyone stayed here? I just wanted to double check that they do have parking as on the website it says free parking until 5th September, I presume this means we will have to pay. I read £7 somewhere can anyone confirm this?
If you are going into town from there just remember that if you use the hopper bus service they charge you around 3 pound or so one way. I dont recall if this hotel has a free "to and from airport" (to pick up tube or Heathrow Connect etc) service but I doubt it.
Busses that pass by the hotel may take you into town (albeit slowly!)
Nivsy
cheers Nivsy we used the tube to get in to town (Hatton cross station is less than 5 mins walk) parking was £7 and we left the car there after checkout until about 4pm with no problems. They also do park and fly deals. I would thoroughly recommend The jurys inn for an airport stopover especially if you get it for the price we did! There is a shuttle to the airport outside the door which is charged but if you walk to the tube station the buses are free to the airport. It is within the airport complex and is great for watching the planes coming in to land (they seem to skim the roof of the hotel sometimes!) Breakfast wasnt included in our package but is advertised at £8.50 and looked pretty good (full buffet)
Can anyone tell me if the shops are open in Heathrow terminal 3 our flight is at 07.55 so will have 2/3 hrs free before then to wander round need something to do with my time...Thanx...
Heathrow Airport opening hours of all terminals here on their website.

Thanx Angie...Looks like i'm in for a bit of a wait..
Does anyone know how long it takes to get from terminal 4 to terminal 1, we arrive at terminal 4 from Mumbai at 17.55 and our flight to Manchester leaves at 19.30 its the last flight so will have problems if we miss it
There is a report this evening of industrial action involving some baggage handlers and check in staff at Heathrow and Aberdeen airports. A series of 48 hour strikes is planned for 22 December, 26 December and 3 January, involving employees of SAS Ground Services.
Is there speedy security option at Heathrow? where you pay extra to get through a bit quicker? I know some airports are doing it, we fly next week to Thailand but will all the noise about increased security etc wondered if it would be worth paying a few quid extra to get through quicker - much as I do resent having to pay!
BAA who operate Heathrow don't offer a faster service by paying extra, the increased security is mainly at a secondary search for passengers flying to american destinations , so hopefully you won't be affected too much.
i've heard an annoucement on airport security will be made on tuesday, whether there will be any changes i don't know yet?
I think the best advice is making sure your hand luggage meets all the requirements and you wear no metal accessories, this might ease you through security checking more easily.
the only people who get through security faster are those with first class/business class boarding cards and those escorted through security by airline representatives,(people like Clarkson who have you believe they wait 6 hours ) they go through a fast-track gate , Richard Hamster Hammond behaves like the rest of us!! using a normal gate.
Thanks for that, lets see what they have to say on Tuesday, will get there in plenty of time so can get through then finally start to relax!
