Hi does anyone know what the spanish laws on alcohol with meals are? In the UK a child of 16 can consume beer or wine with a meal in a restaurant as long as an adult buys it. Is the law different in Spain? My son is 14 and would like a beer with his dinner while we are away in Lanzarote.
Thanks
Legally the drinking age in Lanzarote is 18 years of age.
My son and his friend are 16 and look no older. I ordered them a beer or cider with their meal occasionally in various places and it was never queried. They were also brought a free alcoholic liquer at the end of the meal in two or three places. Maybe this was because they were with an adult, not sure. Hope that helps.
Just got back from Lanzarote and saw quite a few 14ish year olds with beers with their Moms and Dads. I don't know what the law is but it didn't seem to be a problem.
Thanks again
