I guess with a couple of youngsters in tow, then you probably want to be in the Candolim/Calangute/Baga area. These are the main resorts in the north with a good mixture of everything you have asked for. You will even see elephants (albeit not wild) in the area!
I've been over twice with my teenage daughter and wanted similar things to you and so it may be worth having a look at some of my photos. There is a couple of night clubs and IMHO, Mambo's being the best, they play western music and very loud!!

Hope you enjoy them.

Welcome to Ht and apologies as I meant to reply to this earlier and got distracted. Iain has given you the resorts to look at. Read the info on Visa and health screening cards as well. When were you thinking of going?
edit- have the trip thread now at the top of the page which you should find interesting
Hi thanks for the advice, we are thinking of going end of feb, just want to get some sound advice before we go.
First time for us also Nov O9, can't wait, brill photo's, we are staying in Calangute what sort of distances are the various beaches in your photo's from Calangute also the waterfalls.

I stayed at the Marinha Dourada which is close to Baga. Baga is at the northern end of the three resorts about 5 mins from Calangute.
So Querim beach is about 90 minutes away, right up on the Goan border with the next state. Beautiful and very very quiet. Infact we we're the only ones there!
Mandrem, Little Ashvem and Ashvem beaches are totally brilliant. My ideal paradise and about 45minutes in a taxi or scooter ride if you know the way!!
Obviously Baga, Calangute beaches are just minutes away with Candolim about 15 minutes.
The waterfalls is a 90 minute taxi ride and then a special 4x4 ride in the park for another 30 minutes but so so so worth it. Just don't wear anything that is good or nice as you go past one of the main iron ore works in Goa and your clothes will get dusty.
I've never been to the beaches in the south but people on here will tell you that they are even more beautiful. I would guess that it is a 2 hour plus taxi ride from Calangute to somewhere in the south.
Thanks so very much for your speedy reply, we certainly be trying one or two, or even them all out.

your pics are lovely, and have made us decide to visit the water falls,we are visiting with an older couple is there a lot of hard walking climbing etc. are you staying at the marinha again,as i`ve noticed your down for the meets at the same time as us
Deb
The waterfalls are about a 15 minute walk from where the 4x4 drops you off. Getting to the falls is quite easy along a well made path, however, the falls themselves may present a problem for someone not steady on their feet as it can be a bit of scramble. But...if I remember correctly when you approach the falls, if you look over to the far right of the pool where the water exits the pool part of the falls, it is fairly flat. There were quite a few older people there but everyone helps you over the rocks. If you go to the left side of the pool, it is quite difficult to get in (unless you jump) and out of the water.
I have got a long video with some good footage of the falls that may help you decide....

(Why don't direct links to You tube work?)
I have to say when I visited in April this year the humidity was really high and that swim at the falls was the only time I felt fully refreshed...it was lovely.
I'm not staying at the MD next year as they don't do single rooms. Having said that, I'm doing a 2-week motorbike tour around Kerala and Tamil Nadu before coming up to Goa. My plan is just to get a cheap room for the week I'm in Goa but I will be visiting the MD as I got on very well with a few of the lads from the hotel.
I look forward to meeting you at the HT meet then! I went to one this year but my daughter wasn't to good and we left early. It'll be a different situation next year
I wish they served more than coffee though...

Forgot to mention....if you're doing the waterfalls, watch out for the "angry man" that allocates you a 4x4 when you arrive at the village near the falls!
@iaintwoeyes, he is a miserable bugger!
Alan
yes I thought the same to begin with and was going to remove it but then realised he was agreeing with you re the angry man
PMSL!! You're right Fiona! I was thinking "I'm not a miserable *****" that I'm aware of
Poor paxrax almost got a post removed and a pm sent till I read it again - I am still laughing imagining your reaction when you first read it.
