Just some general advice for all you last minute bookers.
Have been flooded with people wanting to go away over the next week and many people have been dissappointed with what is available. Late bookings have dramatically increased over the last 2 weeks as people want the sun and are fed up with the uk weather. Tour Operators have pushed prices up to try and cash in on this whilst they can especially on the non euro zones.
Heres a few hints that may help.
1 - Capacity this year has been reduced so you have to be flexible with your dates if possible as there are not as many flights.
2 - Be realistic with your budget. I know times are hard but with the reduced capacity and the surge of late bookings, prices have increased quite alot, especially for All Inclusive deals.
I have had people wanting a weeks all inc and a budget of 250 per peson with everything included. Agents want to be able to offer the best deals and there systems hunt hi and lo all day so if you are looking through the net and your not seeing much, more than likely is because there isn't much. If there were cheap cheap deals then agents would be selling them heavily.
Some of you may or may not know but agents advertising through say teletextholidays pay a fortune to advertise on it so try not to call and say, i'll book it if you reduce it by £50 because they won't. Your lucky if they make that on a whole booking with some companies.
3 - Remain open minded and try to be as flexible as possible, if your budget isn't enough for All Inclusive then think about self catering, some operators do have some good deals on their committed stocks that they are trying to shift so keep an open mind.
Quite agree. Just wrote a reply and pressed to confirm and all was lost, plus all stuck and could not do anything so I had to turn off the computer! Why does this happen?
We are having intermittent problems with slowness on the site, but if you are patient and wait a while the post usually appears.
Will write a more detailed reply later.
It's a very difficult lates season for us at the minute.
As leisurelad said, there is very little availability and what is left is at top dollar for good quality accomodation. Every other call wants an all inclusive and any hotel worth it's star ratings has already sold it's allocation of rooms. This is not caused by more people travelling, but by less rooms being available.. for example... I travelled to Aghios Gordios in Corfu at Whitsun time. We were told by the apartment owner than Thomson had pulled out of the resort completely and Manos who had previously had 250 beds per week in the resort now had a grand total of 60. The travel companies have played this recession to their advantage, the crafty so and sos that they are.
When you call and ask for a cheap holiday it's not that we don't want to sell you one for that price, (and neither are we "ripping you off") it's that we can't afford to discount anymore.
My tip is book early and save up. It may cost you a little more, but at least when August next year rolls around you won't be left disappointed in the rainy UK.
