Hi All
Were off on the 17th to icmeler flying from bristol.
here goes my moan.
we fly from bristol at 10pm arrive dalaman approx 4.30am passport control baggage collection and out to transfer bus should be 5.30 approx.
Then 2 hour transfer approx. Should arrive at apartments between 7.30-8.00 am my argument is, that when i booked the holiday in august of last year our flight was earlier so did not have a problem arriving in the early hours. But now we arrive at approx 8 am we acctually loose a night in our apartment. We also have to vacate the apartment by 12.00 pm on our last day leaving us with no room for about 14 hours.
When i approached thomas cook about this and explained that we only get 13 nights in the apartment and not 14 which i paid for so could it be arranged that we keep the room for a late checkout there reply ( no surprise here) was that we would need to arrange this with the management of the apartments with a local cost being incurred. About £30 how can this be right i know they always use the old excuse of your first day of your holiday is the day that you leave the UK but surely the last day of our holiday in that case should be the day we leave turkey and in this case it`s the day after we have to vacate our room.
Are we being ripped off? because it certainly feels like we are.
sorry about the whinge still can`t wait to go less than 2 weeks now
we are going with Thomas Cook next week. We are flying from manchester at 8 oclock at night & leaving early hours back. We may be loosing a night travelling however we are getting the full 14 days sun. That suits me fine. If I wasn't happy with the times then I would not have booked the holiday.
Ask on arrival about keeping your room on. Depending on how busy they are this should be ok for a, usually, reasonable fee.
Your room is booked for you on the day you leave the Uk, Like everyone else you have to pay to keep your room on for the last day as you have to vacate it by midday, Heres what to do next time, check the internet for prices for a 1 day stay for your very last day, It will save you a lot of money as hotels/apartments are not expensive, Tell the hotel a few days before and they will let you keep your room on, At worst they will give you another room in the hotel.
When this holiday was booked the flight times were 10am and this was fine as we would arrive at a resonable time, but it was only when this years brochures arrived that we found out about the flight time change, we at no time have been told by TC about time changes. when i approached thomas cook about this they just said that they had no control over flight times etc... but surely i should at least been offerd an alternative if one was available not just left with well sorry but there is nothing we can do about that. (computer says no)
We always book in August for the following July, this ensures that we get the accomodation 7 flights that we want. The brochure often advertises certain flight times, but if you read them they do say that they are subject to change. Often ours have been advertised as being daytime and then change to the usual 22:50 time (same for last 3+ years), we have now come to expect this.
Regarding the accomodation it will be reserved from the day you leave the UK to ensure that it is ready for when you arrive rather than having to wait until 2pm(ish). Last year when I went back late minute I couldn't get in my room until 2pm (landed at 5am), this was totally rubbish as all I wanted to do was unpack and then sleep.
regarding your last day, we obviosuly have the same problem. Only once have we had a problem with keeping our room on, even then the hotel manager allowed us to shower in his private room. Just returned and paid £10 to the hotel to keep it on from 10am until midnight. We always check with them about 4 days before we are due to come home.
Have a great holiday.
flying to dalaman with thomas cook from belfast on 17th august going out at 7am this was the time that was in the brochure at the time we booked thankfully we got the tickets yesterday and that was the time on them.in saying that we only booked seven weeks ago we didn"t take the onboard meal £30 extra and never had a good one yet.but did pay for the extra 5kg of luggage better use of £30 only 13 more sleeps to go. hope thomas cook is better than some people say.
When my mate was hospitalised they were great, also when we had a 2 day delay (long story but not TC fault) they were fantastic. They put us into a 5* AI hotel and we could have anythingwe liked :-) Also when I went to Egypt with them the service was great.
I'm sure you'll have a great holiday.....I'm so jealous, as I've just come home & have 50 weeks until I return.
Im afriad as the above say your room is available from when you leave the UK. But think you have 14 days in the sun!
