Hi all, looking to book my first trip to egypt for next summer.
Having got used to the All-inclusive concept in europe and Turkey, i am looking for a good quality hotel that is family friendly, but without all the tattoo clad women, blinged up beer monster men, and extended families that let their kids run amok. I dont want to sit around the pool and hear parents swearing at their kids, where every time they open their mouths its "Bradley ged ere ya little s**t".
and teens are roaming in gangs, obese people are stuffing their plates full, whilst moaning about foreign food, and it seems most of the guests are smoking in inapproriate places.
Looking for good restaurants with good food and decent drink, free from mass pandemic of sickness D&V
Is this too much to ask on a budget of around 4000, for a family of 4?
I do hope not.
Any help please greatly appreciated.
Mick, 40ish, kids 15 and 12
http://www.redseaholidays.co.uk. Hurghada appeals less to the 'mass market' than Sharm. However, the clientele is predominently German and bear in mind that many Germans smoke!
Alternatively try somewhere like the Savoy and upgrade to their all inclusive package.
You could consider the Grand Makadi or Makadi Palace in Makadi Bay or Siva Grand in Hurghada. They are superior in quality to most all inclusive hotels and are being offered at an amazing price by Alternatively try somewhere like the Savoy and upgrade to their all inclusive package.
Regards, Caro
I have noticed the Grand Makadi and Makadi palace regularly scoring very highly on review websites.
I will look further into these.

We have been to Sharm 3 times. First 2 times we stayed at the Laguna Vista Beach Resort which is situated in Nabq Bay region of Sharm (Aug 06 and 07) The clients were mainly Italians, a few French and about 15 per cent British. There were only a handful of teenagers in the hotel when we visited and few younger children. The food was OK (not fantastic) but we never starved. There is also an Italian Restaurant which is payble after your first visit, also a Fish Restaurant on the beach. The grounds are stunning, and the accommodation varies from hotel rooms, to bungalows to duplex apartments, to swim up rooms. We have stayed in the bungalows and the duplex and they were huge.
We also stayed stayed at the Dreams Beac Resort in Um El Sid area, but I would'nt reccommend it to you.
Last year we stayed at the Sunrise Royal Makadi Bay Hotel (30 mins from Hurghada) and we thoroughly enjojed the holiday, so much so we are returning again next week. The hotel has 2 run of the mill buffet restaurants, but also 3 a la carte rstaurants, which you re free to use as many times as you wish, and we found them to be of a very high standard.
One thing to bear in mind about Egyptian hotels, is whilst a hotel may be graded as 5 star in the brochure, you will find that they would be equivilant to our 4 star over here in the UK.

Pa
I stayed in the tropicana grand azure in nabq bay back in june/july and i wanted the same kind of qualities as yourself and found that a picked a good hotel. We only seen one lot of teenagers in the whole week, the guests were not all british infact it was an even mix of all europeans, i didnt hear any riff raff families and the food was amazing. you can also upgrade to vip which for your budget im sure you could, and you get your own executive lounge with branded spirits, room service, your own restaurant and a few other upgrades. i heard from my friend who is a travel agent that the grand azure is one of the best hotels to avoid the sickness bugs. also the only place i seen people smoking was the lobby bar you could not smoke in restaurants. the hotel was spotless, ive just booked to go again in september.
Good Luck
Tamara
Thank you Tamara, and Pat.
We are off to the Grand Azure in a few days- will post a review when we get back
I'm a bit concerned that you might find it a bit chavy from what you post, so do read a lots of reviews on here & TA. There were obese people and a few tatoos, but I didn't hear bad language, nobody was roaming about in large groups, it was too hot, teens seemed to be with families.
It is one of the few hotels, along with the sister hotel - the coral sea resort - that are virtually all Brit, although they do sell to the Russians in quieter periods. It's quite pricey so maybe that will keep the riff-raf out lol.
The plus side of this hotel is that your kids will actully find others to mix with, whereas a lot of other hotels will only be about a third Brits and the rest will be Russians and/or Italians, so it's harder for kids to make friends and at some, the entertainment will be in the dominante Nationalities language. On the plus side if they are swearing you won't know unless you speak Russian or Italian.
It's between two other hotels recommended on this thread, It's got the Laguna Vista on one side, which is a very pretty hotel with a loud beach disco till one in the morning and the Tropicana Grand Azure on the otherside, which is also a lovely looking hotel. These are all in an area called Nabq Bay, which is quite a way from Namma Bay where the main shopping area and nightlife is.
RSHV & Coral Sea are exclusive to First Choice for booking purposes.
Good Luck, hope you find something suitable.

Understand what you mean about the beach disco at the Laguna Visa Beach Resort, but having said that the majority of the accommodation within the resort is situated away from it, unless you were to be allocated one of the beach bungalows, which I would imagine would be noisy due to the music from the disco.

Pat
Probably find we could hear the LV Beach Disco more in the HV than you could in the LV and our room was at the back lol. It doesn't go on late though about 1 o'clock.

Family friendly , good quality A/I . Entertainment pretty good for Egypt .
As Chris days about the HV , Yes you get the odd tattoo and there will be teens there over school holidays but Egypt is not really that sort of place . It's not a late night boozing kinda holiday , it's very much about enjoying the sun and the Red sea ,going to bed at a reasonable time and being up and about early to appreciate the Red sea at it's best time of day .
I dont see a problem with doing the hilton or one of the other decent quality hotels for your budget of £4000 but you could also consider DIY for Sharm as most of the hotels are only a 15 minute taxi from the airport. I've done both but am DIYing next easter because T/O prices are stupid for next year.. Booked flights seperately and then booked accomodattion very early direct with http://www.hilton.co.uk at about £60 per night per room(2 persons) A/I . Downside is you would need to pay for flights at time of booking although I got deposit only with travel republic . I have given 30% deposit to hilton to guarantee the best price and balance won't be due until checkout .

Hi can anyone recommend hotels with waterslides in sham area if possible looking at going nx easter from 25th march on,seem park inn also aqua blu few others,2adults 1 18yr 1 16 thanks
want to go to sharm next thursday the 27 need 4 star and all inc for five adults as in grandad me and wife 20 and 15 year old kids HELP
I think if you want to go next Thursday you need to go into a travel agent and find out what the availability is quickly and then come back on here and lsit the hotels. If you do it the other way round the chances are you may pick something that is unavailable. Its possible a lot of the really good 4* AI's liek the Holiday Village, hilton Sharks Bay and Coral Sea Resort could be fully booked.
Not many guests at the SBR have tatts, but if they do they are genuine nice people, down to earth and not stuck up.
I do hope you find the hotel you are looking for, most hotels in Egypt are lovely as are the people in them.

Ps Admin/Mods please do not delete unless Lyn has seen it please
Im sorry if i offended you as a tattoed person. I was maybe making too much of a generalisation.
The person I was describing had all the above in abundance, im sure everyone knows the sort.
Im surprised I havent stirred up more of a controversy with my remarks, as i reckon i sounded like a stuck up toff, I can assure you thats not the case. I too like a drink as much as the next man.
I just begrudge spending lots of decent cash to be surrounded by hoards of people who display anti-social tendencies .....because theyre on their hols.
BTW the tatts look great. I certainly wouldnt steer clear of you !!

Thursday 27 August to Sharm from Gatwick
Redseaholidays.co.uk are offering 4* Ghazala Gardens in Naama Bay (on the mountain side of the road) at £499 all inc (includes flight meals, 20kg luggage and transfer
or 5*Grand Hotel Sharm el Sheikh at £529 all inc as above
Both hotels have excellent write ups on tripadvisor. Their promotions number is 01752 322 192. They often offer £50 discount per person on the above prices. Absolute bargain!
I would not recommend these hotels to those who want to be surrounded by Brits though as we are very much in the minority!
