Can anyone help?? We are thinking of travelling to the Algarve late November / early December and will be staying in the Montechoro area.
We have been at different times of the year, however, we don't know if all the bars etc close down during the winter months
Many of the purely tourist oriented bars and restaurants will be closed for the winter, but we have a resident population of around 19,000 who need to be fed and watered, so there will be enough places you can go to.
Thanks for that, we were only concerned as we have just returned from the Algarve and when we were asking in some of the restuarants particularly in the Old Town they were saying that they close in October until April.
That's right. We reckon that about half the places are closed for the winter, which means the other half are open. You will need to shop around a bit more perhaps. I am not 100% on the Montechoro area but you can easily get the bus to the Old Town or elsewhere.
Jal , From the top of the strip at Montechoro Hotel down to Wilde & Co you will maybe get approx 8 to 10 bars open in winter and maybe same number of restaurants, so not very many really, maybe one or two more in the daytime will be open. The Santa Eulalia area near the Oura Praia hotel & Clube Praia Da Oura is busier as it caters for long stayers.
Jayjan, thanks for that although we stay up at the Montechoro area, we prefer eating and drinking in the Old Town and Santa Eulalia areas
