I once heard them referred to as the company who do 'Cruises for People who Shouldn't do Cruises"!

They are still going.

Why ? are you saying they are rubbish then, I have done the Island Escape before Thomson takeover, but thought Ocean village was OK, is that not the case then??

Ocean Village are great. We love Island Cruises and Ocean Village are like them, but the cabins are much bigger and better.
I'm sure you will enjoy. It's only the 'cruise snobs' who try to put you off.

Thanks for that am considering for next year, as I say I did Island cruises and as it was just me travelling It was perfect for me, I am not comfortable with pomp and ceremony so Island cruises was tailor made if you like. I thought Ocean Village was of the similar type as you have been on both what do you think in that respect.?

Miss Pink, You should be fine with Ocean Village. Although it is not quite as friendly as Island Escape (or what I.E. used to be)
We are going on I.E. in December, and it will be our third cruise with them. Just hoping it will be the same as it was before Thompson's took over.
Both are very similar types of cruises, O.V. is that bit better for cabins etc.

Marn. :cheers

We are booked on the Ocean Village transatlantic cruise leaving Palma on 3 November.

I cannot get into the Ocean Village website and have a few questions.

Can you take the provided pool towels off the boat to use on the beach?

Are there laundry facilities and how much do they cost?

What sort of power sockets are in the cabins?

Is all spending onboard put on an account and paid off at the end?

Does anyone know why the Ocean Village website is down?

I think you will find the O.V. web site is up and runing now.

I don't think you are supposed to take the pool towells off ship, but who would know?

There are two launderies. I think it costs about £1 for powder.

Can't remember about sockets.

Yes, all shopping goes onto your account.

We did the transatlantic West to East on the O.V. about 4 years ago.

Thanks I did enjoy the Island Escape, and have thought that i might try OV, but I may have another glance at the IE again. Do you know if the spirit is being used, I never went on it - it was not in operation when I went on my cruise and of course since then the Thomson takeover. Also when I go onto the thomson webpage and put my details in for just me i.e. solo traveller it says no matter what date ruise etc, none are available, so it looks as though I will have to go in to see an agent.

Thanks Mikenmarn

Yes the OV site is up again and I have been able to answer most of my questions.

If anyone else is going on OV Palma to Barbados departing 3 November, give us a shout.
