Hi, not sure how far Bodrum is from Kusadasi but friends of ours travelled from Fethye up to Bodrum by car and it took them over 4 hours, of course Kalkan is another hours drive on top from Fethye.

Bodrum is about 3 hours drive from Kusadasi. You certainly have a long journey, especially by bus.

Earlier this year we drove from Fethiye to Izmir - took us 5.5 hour with no stops and as it was out of season there was no holiday traffic. I would imagine Fethiye to Kusadasi would take maybe 4.5 hours (by car) with another hour or so added on for the Fethiye to Kalkan bit, so around 5 and a half hours by car.

We missed a Dalaman connection in Istanbul with Turkish Airlines last Christmas and the airline tried to get us to fly to Izmir and take the night bus which went from Izmir to Antalya via Fethiye but I'm not sure whether the bus would use the coastal route via Kalkan or the shorter route over the mountains. We didn't use the bus as we decided to fly to Antalya instead.

I would think that:

a,there must be a bus from Kusadasi to Fethiye.

b.I definately know there are regular connections from Fethiye to kalkan.

I've just got to confirm a is correct then try and link up with b.

Some one must have done this trip before surely?

If you type 'bus kusadasi fethiye' into google a number of options come up. Apparently there is a direct bus from Kusadasi to Fethiye run by Pamakkale Turizm and there is also an option with Alaturka to do Kusadasi to Fethiye as a day trip visiting Pamakkale en route. There seem to be plenty of options but be prepared for a long trip and take plenty of drinks with you, especially if you're visiting in the height of the season. Good luck!
