just wanted to bring to your attention that tesco deals now not only feature UK Barcelo hotels but have added some Worldwide hotels too. The Barcelo chain have a list of ones you can use here
As far as I can see you're not limited to weekends.

Hope this might be of interest to some of you.

I've been hoping for a couple of years that they would start adding some hotels for destinations outside the UK . We love our city breaks and the lack of hotels for this purpose has always frustrated me with the tesco deals . I havnt had a chance to look at costs etc shirley but I'm guessing maybe expensive to start with . How much did the one you fancied in Praque work out to .

Lyn, for 3 nights over Oct half term it is 405 Euros room only :( wheras another one I've got my eye on (in Majorca) is under 200 Euros half board :)

I've plenty of time to make my mind up and collect more vouchers- I've got £68 x 4 at the moment. They might even have added more destinations by then.

I noticed Istanbul and their list too . Might have a look at that one when I get back from Tallinn Tuesday .

thats very expensive Shirley . we only paid £120 for 3 nights in Prague for a decent hotel. No point using them if your not going to get good value .

Can't remember if I told you but I was looking at using my lot for a caravan with park resorts in norfolk for a weekend August bank holiday but the caravan cost was about £434 which I thought was rather steep even if it was Aug Bank holiday . I have over £100 worth to use so would of just had enough but couldnt bring myself to part with them for that. I'm looking for better value out of them .

Hi Lyn,
Tesco have added some studios and apartments to their list. They are in the canaries, Portugal and Spain, ranging from £80 - £250 worth of vouchers. You get the use of it for a week. At the moment the offer finishes at the end of march but maybe they will extend the offer. No doubt the price will rise significantly in peak season

I had seen those before shirley but must admit did'nt look any further as for some reason I was a wee bit suspicious thinking they were time share /holiday club connected .

Yesterday cashed in £980 worth of vouchers (£245 worth of points) towards a Virgin Holiday deal to Chicago in April. 7 nights flights and hotel.

Goodness that's a lot of vouchers. My dates would have expired before I'd collected half that amount.

It's amazing how quickly you can acquire them. We have tesco credit cards which we use exclusivly at Tescos. This gives you bonus points. We buy all our fuel at Tesco as well, which boosts the numbers. One of our local stores has a recycling point where they give you half a point for every aluminium can you recycle (that works out at 2p per can when you cash them in for a deal) I work in a school and you would be amazed how many aluminium cans I can collect when the have discos, sports day and other events in school, (cans that would just go in the general rubbish if I didn't collect them. ;)

Even getting your holiday money through Tesco not only gives you points it is also a good rate and through the credit card you get 54 days interest free credit on the money as well!

In this last year we have also bought a garden shed, a washing machine and two flat screen TVs from Tesco direct, the shed was not only the best price but came with 500 extra points (£20 when used in a deal).

Also look in the Tesco magazine. Last September they were offering 200 bonus points if you topped up your Orange phone for £20. We both have Orange pay as you go phones (I have a second one I use for school) so 3 top ups that month brought us an extra £24 towards our holiday!

The points are valid for 2 years and once you cash them in for vouchers the vouchers are valid for another 6 months.

A BA amex card also gives miles and a free companion ticket when you reach a certain spend. Only get an Amex though if you intend to pay off the balance every month. I now use either Tesco or Amex card to pay for everything.

Isn't there something about the vouchers can only be used against the full price of a Virgin holiday, and you can't phone up for a late deal or anything?

Do you have to convert the Tesco vouchers before contacting Virgin?

You have to check with Virgin that the holiday you want is available then get the voucher from Tescos. You can't use them with any offers they may have on.

Just got back this morning from Chicago. Luckily missed the grounding of flights!

At Last after days of searchiing the web for a weekend with my Tesco rewards vouchers and numerous phone calls, I've booked ourselves a weekend away on the vouchers.

I was hoping for one of the upcoming half term weekends in a nice Old English Inn but had absolutely no luck. Instead I've booked 2 nights in the Mercure hotel in Cardiff City center for the weekend of 11th June. It has a Gym, pool and Spa but with the new John Lewis shopping centre that's recently opened and the beautiful bay area to walk around I don't think there'll be time for staying in at the hotel

The plus point of going to Cardiff is that we can be there in an hour which is great as we won't be able to leave until 4pm because of work on the Friday. It's something to break up the monotony until our August holiday. We'll probably go up by train too which will be a nice break from the driving for hubby.

...and the best bit, it was £220 which will all be paid in Tesco vouchers

Living in Scotland and liking to do long haul holidays, I quite often have to fly down to Gatwick. If you use Tesco vouchers converted to AirMiles, then the BA flight effectively costs you only about £31 for the return trip. You get your luggage carried for free, and often a free drink or snack on the flight.
So it's way better than the expensive uncomfortable EasyJet alternative.

Really pleased you got something Shirley . You are making me jealous .

I meant to tell you earlier that My nephew had just used his points to book a marriott in Leicestershire for the bank holiday next weekend .He only did it a few days ago so I was confident you would find something eventually .

I suppose each of those hotel chains has a different allocation for the tesco deals and the larger chains can absorb more .

Shirley hubby and I stayed at that hotel last month, when we went white water rafting at the new centre. It's really lovely with a gorgeous breakfast.
