well just to remind people to either remember their malaria tabs or remember to spray well, especially those of you arriving at the airport late afternoon or early evening, have your protection handy, you can carry a 100 ml bottle in hand luggage. it must be this damp weather cos we have been plagued with mozzies this year, never noticed this many in Nov before ...ever!! they are just all over the house this evening .. despite incence and mozzie coils and plug ins!! dratted things!!
chilly
They cost 120rps and are re-chargeable and you just take a swipe at one of the blighters and they get sizzled on the bat
We have one in every room.
Also for anyone who stays in Goa for any length of time we bought an "Elite" insect catcher like they have in butchers shops in UK for about 2,300rps a couple of years ago and has been worth its weight in dead insects. Bought it from the upmarket lighting shop just off 18th June Rd in Panjim, just off the roundabout near to Domino Pizza shop.
Do you have one of those electric tennis raquet type things (bug bat)
yes waterproof we have them, they are brillaint and great enteretainment if u fancy a game of squash!!
bought ours on the beach a few yrs ago and like you say just plug them in to recharge

Oh I love the thought of taking a bat to them!

It really does sound like fun. I have never heard of this bat before. I'm sure we don't have it on our main malaria thread.
They are great, I have one for the summer flies that get into my kitchen.

Angie.
Great- I am definitely buying one. We live at the edge of a wood and I'm sick to death of all the wildlife constantly flying around the kitchen. I am also sick of telling OH not to use the kitchen towels during his daily massacre. He will love this

Just a little bit rain again - 11pm

Fiona I have ones of those too.

Joking aside- I really think these could be a "hit" with holidaymakers
Yes Sandy at Alisannes (sp) on the track up to the beach by Fishermans had one as she'd caught malaria the year before. She'd be fetching out our dinner while waving this bat in her other hand...ZAP....ZAP.....ZAP...!!! Surprising JUST how many there were about!
I will be getting one next week.
The tennis bat is ace, I bought one from the beach as well and love it. I remember being in a local bar one night and the owner gave me one to bat the blighters with. Obviously a good ploy because I bought more beer and played tennis at the same time!! Good on her marketing ideas I say!!
The street sellers who normally come up to you in a restaurant have them too, good bit of bartering to be done.... .
I thought there were definitely more (or more vicious) mozzies this time. Got bitten to hell despite using my normally reliable repellant.
I thought they were bad in march i looked like i had measles i was covered..
Got to get one of those, love that shop too
Incidentally, more rain expected for a week or so I'm told.
