After leaving the UK the tourism minister is continuing his "Road Show"!
Does anyone agree that surely he should be here in Goa trying to sort out the many problems we have?

Ahh but this way they get a free jolly round Europe
Not quite sure about 'steps taken by the government on the tourism front' though

I say it's a good thing. Anything to bring the variety of countries who used to visit Goa. Now it seems to be dominated by two - no guesses needed. Personally, I loved to talk (with difficulty) with people from different countries - take the show to Norway, Germany, France, Spain, Finland, USA and more and more.

GoaWish: How many tourists do we normally see visiting Goa from different parts of Asia for a holiday?..very,very few..the main reason is because the place is to dirty.
If the tourism minister is determined to do his "Roadshow" in the middle of the season he should maybe concentrate on coutries that have not yet visited Goa,or maybe start by cleaning the place up,putting some pavements down,cleaning the beach,sorting out the shack problems,nothing is ever done.....and where does all the money go that is generated by tourists??? Anyone know because i can't see any improvements.
Maybe the minister should knock Finland off his list aswell...they had them...and they left!!

Spaldy yet again makes a good point or two.Not many nations would consider offering Goa as a destination for its citizens once its travel agents had seen the standards on offer.

For years it was the destination of backpackers,students and hippys whose only needs were a bed for the night and enough recreational drugs to dim the reality.

Then we brits discovered its charm and for years have been willing to forgive the poor standards because of the wonderful flip side i.e. friendly people superb chill out on the beach mega cheap cost of living and great food.

I fear we are considered along with the influx of Russian visitors the best that Goa can do.

Interesting to know just what visiting travel agents from some of Europes more discerning nations have reported back.

Anyway.Why would we want Italians and French etc spoiling something that is doing a very good impression of killing the goose that laid its golden egg.

Papa: The French and Italians will not visit Goa anyway,they will think the same. The majority of Russians who are visiting will not return.
As for next season forget Oct/Nov untill xmas,so it's down to about a 3 month season. Who's fault?...i'm sorry but it's their own. The shack fiasco was brought on by them arguing amongst themselves and i really don't think that problem is resolved properly yet. More problems to come and the shacks will end up in bits,you can see it coming.
I've been here for years and loved Goa and for those that think i'm knocking Goa yes i am.
Still trying to think where all the money generated by tourism is going......

This sort of publicity may stop the Russians visiting Goa.

The Herald pronounced a couple of years ago that the next charter tourists would be be from Spain - deals had had been done with the Spanish and they were on their way - still not here.
I wonder if the Tourist dept take plenty of photographs of Goa with them when they are in Europe looking for tourists for Goa - hope they have plenty of the Government Complex we visited today - must be the filthiest restaurant we have been in in Goa for many years. It was an absolute disgrace and we were a captive audience.
We then moved on to Anjuna beach - once again what a disgrace - the steps down to the beach were covered in all kinds of rubbish making it dangerous to walk down them. When we asked why nobody was employed to sweep them we just got the usual wobble of the head and no answer. We spoke to some visitors from Mumbai who said they thought they were coming to look at the beautiful beaches of Goa and refused to walk down the steps in case they had an accident so it is not only foreigners who think like this.

It's very much a case of 'A bad tradesman always blames his tools' in Goa at present. Seems like we could wait years before they get it right.

Decades may be more accurate and by then I fear it will be too late.We who love Goa may well have given up and found new horizons.

I will be back probably in March but if ever there was a place that continues to abuse its visitors more than Goa then I have not been there.

It seems it now exists purely by us frequent hardened visitors who know what to expect.I have recommended Goa to my in laws who travel in January.

I fear for my life when they return.

Said it before and will say it now given the choice to be here or be there I know where I would be now.

Sat on the sun bed with book in hand watching the world go by.
