We are considering an MSC cruise but are concerned about the short time at some of the ports. We would like to do our own thing so have we got time to do the following:-
Is 5 hours enough to do Katakolon for Olympia?
Is 6 hours enough to do Izmir for Ephesus?
Is 5 hours enough in Dubrovnik?
Thanks,
Jim
We have been to each of these ports, although Ephesus was done from Kusadasi.
First the easy one, Dubrovnik....yes, no problem; Ephesus from Izmir....quite a distance from Izmir, based on my understanding would say no for DIY; Katakolon, it depends, I think you can get a train but obviously depends on timings each way.
Izmir you can at least walk along into the city and see the main square, look at the shops etc. Not a lot to see, although there is a huge souk/bazaar if that interests you. Katakolon is just a little village....literally 15-30 minutes and you are done there! My advice would be if you want to see Ephesus and/or Olympia, then take a tour rather than DIY.
