Looks like some folks have had an extended holiday in Goa

Actually, maybe not, I think the delays have been only at Manchester and not returning from Goa. Just had a message that they are taking off now  22 hours 50 minutes late :(

This mornings TC flight due to go at 7.15am has still not left, poor people. Nothing worse than flight delays in my opinion. I think this weather has just caused mayhem and it will take some time to catch up.

According to Manchester airport website, I think the very delayed TCX095K is at the 'Final Boarding' stage.

TCX041K due out today at 07:15 is still 'Wait in lounge'.

I think most charter flights take holidaymakers out to Goa and bring passengers back, so if the outbound flights are delayed, the inbound ones will be too.

Yes you are quite correct, I am getting myself all confused. :D

Just had another message from a very frustrated friend, take off for TCX95K due to leave yesterday at 12.55pm had just been about to happen when it came to light that two passengers were missing (apparently they went home last night) but their bags are on board. The plane has been taken back to stand whilst they sort it out.
What a nightmare for them all!

The TCX95L due to arrive in Manchester from Goa at 12-15 has been canceled, so it does look like some people are having an extended holiday!! :sun2

You're right, Squigs, the TCX95L is the inbound flight for the outbound TCX95K, which had taxied but has apparently returned to stand.
Until THAT flight goes out to Goa, they'll not know when the TCX95L will be arriving back.
I wonder why the say 'cancelled' rather than 'delayed'?

On TA, I read that the flight got to the runway and they decided they'd got too many bags on board. :que

Whichever reason, it's still very sad and frustrating for the passengers, who seem to have been messed about big-style.

What a dreadful scenario.
I wonder how the passengers in Goa were treated ? One would hope they were not taken to Dabolim but allowed to remain "in resort" until it was confirmed a plane was on it's way.
One advantage of using the coach the tour companies provide for package tours is that you are less likely to have a wasted journey to the airport, and at least at that end, overnight accomodation would not be a problem.
I can imagine that in Manchester there wouldn't be a free hotel room for miles. You can't blame anyone for going home from the airport but look at the consequences if for whatever reason they can't make it back. One would hope they informed the airline of their movements before they left the airport for home.

It also looks like the TC flight that was due to leave at7-15 is also in for a long delay as the airport is already showing that the return flight due to arrive back tomorrow morning is now delayed until the following day. How awful for all concerned.

At least the TCX095K flight has finally departed at 14:20. :pele :sun

Poor buggers I was watching GMTV this morning and some guy on the phone was saying how they had been treated. He was also on his way to Goa.

EU regulations clearly state the provisions for delayed and cancelled flights.

They should have been put up in a hotel overnight.

We were delayed for 24 hours in March and Thomson followed the rules to the letter.

We were hoteled and given food vouchers.

These rules are very clear and the airlines are required to display a copy at check in.

What a horrible start to a holiday, I hate flight delays! We got delayed almost 24 hrs when we were in Goa a couple of years back, you might think "lucky devils" BUT, we had already travelled to Dabolim AND were sat on the plane (dehydrating as air conditioning wasn't working) awaiting take off when they sent us all back into the airport to go through immigration again (even stamped our passports again) :que and to retrieve our luggage. We were bussed to the MD (although we hadn't previously been staying there) and got there mid evening by which time we were very tired and irritable having been up since silly o'clock. Into bed early (again) and up again at silly o'clock to start the process once more! The plane was still not fixed when we got back to Dabolim as another plane had to bring out the spare part required from London..........anyhow, we did get away and strangely enough it was about 20 minutes to go before the 24 hour deadline!

Having said all this, I would rather be late leaving than have my life put at risk by a faulty plane (as was the reason for the delay in my case)....Still hate delays though (unless of course you can remain by the pool) :) Fizz

We were due out on the TCX041K flight from Dabolim at 12.55pm on monday 21st dec, but actually only flew yesterday morning 23rd Dec at 6.15 am their time :( As we were on a Thomas Cook flight only package, the total repsonsibilty for finding another room for the night was left to us, as the Goa based appalling Alpha holidays rep, not only didn't speak 1 word of English, but also didn't give a toss about us.Luckily we met a really helpful thomas cook rep who told us a hotel we could check the notices on, other wise we would have been stranded at the dire dabolim airport for over 30 hours :duh :duh
Had a fab hols but a stressful end to it :(

We were delayed by a day flying back from Delhi last year with Air France.
They put us up in the Shangrila, see link http://www.shangri-la.com/en/property/newdelhi/shangrila
All food, some drinks and transport included, or we could have come back via another carrier the same day. :tup :tup

This is the big advantage of travelling scheduled. :D

samtheboater,

The EU regulations cover scheduled,Charter and Budget airlines. The rules are clear.Although some airlines try to get around them by cancelling the flight.Cancelling equals compensation delay means food etc.

They have to hotel you after so many hours..

See the link above.
