Wednesday, went to the local market by the train station today. Then walked onto Marions for their fabulous chicken and chips. Calling in at a few bars on the way there and back. Lots of offers on lager and wine in the bars 1 euro in most but local spirit and mixers were dearer than we last rememered. Had a very drunken night in the old town.

Thursday Christmas eve. We had a ride on the bus to La Cala, it was raining so we didn`t get off the bus in the end we paid to go back instead. We saw the new promanade and did plan to walk along it latter but never got the chance(good excuse to book again asap). The rain cleared so we walked on to Ricon and had a few in Costa Games. Walked back via the Cheap and chearful bar. Dinner in the hotel and we went out with a few people from the hotel. Most Spainish bars were closed so we all ended up in the Red Lion another drunken night.

Friday Christmas day.The sun is blessing us today.Missed breakfast as our son was opening his pressies. Had a walk on both proms , it was packed out, wanted a coffee but could get a seat in the sun.Eventually got a coffee and had some churrios. Went back for Christmas dinner at the hotel. The hotel made a fantastic lunch for us, they had put lots of extra staff on and the waiters were showing everyone to their tables, pouring wine and looking after everyone Cava was served as well. We manged to have a short rest. Then we went for a lovely walk along to the end of Levante and had a few more drinks along the way. Out at night for a couple of drinks avoiding the torrential rain.

Saturday homeward bound.

Thanks mazza!!! Nice to meet you too!! I'm back in Carousel new years eve if you're still around then!

Christine means Marianos for chicken btw, not marians just in case anyone's looking for the place. I recommend it too, their chicken is fabulous!!!

I agree with the vote for Mariano's chicken. Good food at a good price.

Thanks for the report Christine. We are still in Benidorm until 8th Jan and are hoping for some better weather. It was lovely yesterday.

Just done Beni myself for Xmas at the Levante Club Hotel, first time in Beni for approx. 5 years and not much has changed. A few more apartments and loads more euor-a-pint bars. Agree, the Gods took kindly on Xmas day, a nice sunny day and I walked along the beach at 8.30 am'ish. Some rubbish acts I'm sorry to say, but still a few good ones. Well worth a look on a decent day is the two guys who often play at the Tiki Beach Bar. Taylor and someone? (sorry), played my kind of music (Van the Man, Clapton etc.) and only €1.50 a pint.
It was great to see the families celebrating with bottles of bubbly on the beach on Xmas day in the sun and running into the sea with their Santa suits on. For anyone who likes their coffee, the Rockstar bar is knocking out cups for only 50 cents and €1 a pint (50 cents a half) and gets very busy.

Hi all, Home yesterday after a great week once again in benidorm love it .. Ok we gave the calypso a go and i was not disapointed this hotel was spotless and very well looked after the only moan was that me and hubby was the youngest init lol .

We got there december 26th and the weather was great ok so be it a bit windy from time to time but during the day was fantastic our room was a suntrap - at night the usual cardigan or jacket.

We would go back to the calypso again if price was as good as we got for new year much cheaper than our usual hotel the ambassador .The staff were very nice and worked hard the gala dinner has been the best ive had during my visits at new year .

We went to the carousel as its so well kept the place is spotless and not expensive and had a few great nights in there some great singers and met up with lisa who belted out a few songs and kept everyone entertained .

We went to peggys tartan bar and brought the bells in down there, had a great night there met some nice folk from newcastle and halifax everyone enjoyed the night with peatloaf and then a couple from glasgow who stay in benidorm took over after peatloaf till the early hours .

I went into john and joesphs for a coffee and noticed its been made smaller they have made it back to the size it was when i first visited benidorm many years ago . I did ask the waiter why it was a lot smaller and he told me he didnt know lol .

But all in all i had a great week and im now looking forward to my next trip roundabout april time then my summer holiday in july so if anyone sees any we deals for 27th april feel free to pm me .

All the best to you all for 2010 mazza

Great report Mazza, glad you had a great time I would love to do New Year only managed xmas a few times so far.

When you went in John and Josephs were there 2 rooms, we were in there last week and one of the rooms was empty and it had a pool table that wasn`t in use.I just wondered if they had pulled the shutters across the other room with it being so empty.

I think that part of John & Josephs is shut for good now!

Hi christine the large bit with the pool table init has been halved and a brick wall is up .
