Hi all,
I have been trawling the various package companies/teletext/ looking at apartments and flights separately but it seems to me that some of the offers on teletext are by far better than if I booked it all separately.
Is this generally the way it is for Corfu or should I have booked my flights AGES ago to have got the best deal?
Any advice welcome. Oh, looking to go mid June for 1 week, can fly London/Bristol/Birmingham. Somewhere like Kassiopi or Roda, self catering.
Thanks.
Easyjet flights from Bristol and Gatwick came out around the end of July last year and you could have probably got returns for less than £100 if you were quick, but they soon go up as they get booked up. There are still few flights available in June for around £70 each way, but then you've got to add on any bags you want to check in and the cost of transfers, as well as your accommodation, so a package deal could well work out cheaper.
I would agree with you at the present time, especially for a 2 week holiday. Remember the Tour Operators pay the owners 'peanuts' for the accommodation element of your package so 2 week packages are often very good value. But if you book independently you will usually pay much more for the accommodation.
The major element is the cost of flights which can vary a lot depending on demand. The moral is 'check flight prices regularly and if you see a good price then go for it'.
Bear in mind that you will also have to pay about £90 for independent transfers to the north coast resorts.
Last May for the dates we wanted it was much cheaper for us (2 persons) to go 'package' to a hotel in Agios Georgios than independent to our friend's nearby apartments even though he doesn't charge us !! The flights were that expensive for those dates.
For a single week, which you want, you stand a good chance of breaking even if you can go out of the main peak weeks.
