Hi seeking advice on best time to visit Egypt to avoid the hottest and busiest times.
intend to do as much as we can. nile, luxor, pyramids and beach resort. Not decided exactly where but would really appreciate input on the main two issues.
The best time are during the months from October to April, the temperatures range from about the mid 30's in October / April down to the mid 20' during December / January, out with these periods it gates VERY hot and uncomfortable.
There are no particularly busy times, during the winter months there are more visitors from the slightly cooler Northern European and American countries while during the hotter months there are more visitors from the South of Europe (Italy etc).
Take a look at http://www.wunderground.com/global/stations/62460.html#History for more weather info.
I would suggest that you might wish to consider doing a cruise on the Nile first then going to one of the Red Sea resorts (Hurghada / Sharm) and doing a one day trip to Cairo from there.

I agree with the above, we have been to sharm in Apr/May, june (several times), July August and several times in November. To enjoy Cairo and Luxor to its full benefit is to go in the cooler months. I went to cairo in July and my flip flops melted, and the majority of people in my group going to Luxor stayed on the coach all day as it was cooler. You just cannot take anything in properly. January/February may have a few spots of rain, and March is nice as is April, but a light jacket maybe required at night. May is in the 80s and very warm. June to october has very hot and i mean hot temps ranging from in the 100s to the 90s in October. To much AC, booze and dehydration and eating beef will cause upsets tummies to some. I personally am a lover now of November, middle 80s in the day and fresh when you get up, not stifling like the summer months, night time lovely, may need a cardi. Only downfall for some would be you need to be up early to take full advantage of the sun. The sun goes down 4.30pm, so the days are shorter, but great sunsets to be had.
Is there much difference between November and January? These are the two months I am looking at so will be either Nov. 2011 or January 2012.
Mrs greekofile wants to do Nile cruise, Abu Simbel, two/three nights Cairo then possibly beach resort.
thanks agian.

Possible wind and spots of rain, temps in the 70s and cooler at night.
Nov the perfect time for intense trips x
