Never having been there, I can't help you with this, but the Tourist Office website might prove helpful. It will be updated to reflect current happenings, so all the Christmas/New Year stuff will have been replaced well before you travel. Have a lovely time.

You probably won't want to hear this but we did a day visit there in 2006. The town was pretty grotty, litter, gum and other stuff everywhere. The sea front looked very tired, the beach is nothing to write home about either. We didn't stay long enough to eat and got the train out after a couple of hours.

However if you can do Monte Carlo/Monaco or Menton they are really nice (excuse the pun) ;)

The old town is attractive and quaint with flower market, lots of restaurants, bars, nice shops etc.
Restaurants all have menus/ prices outside- within the same area you have the ridiculously expensive and the reasonable. Lots of restaurants/ shops in the road behind the casino, parallel to seafront, as well as in the old town. The war memorial is also impressive if you are interested in that kind of thing. We got the bus to Monaco one day (as it went along the Corniche- very scenic), and the train back.
Eze is a lovely cobbled hilly village with exotic gardens and stunning views at the top- about half hour bus ride from Nice. The approach to airport was pretty spectacular- we flew towards monaco, banked and flew low right along the coastline. Bus service from airport was good, only a short ride. We found taxis expensive in town. It's a good place for a short break, especially if you explore the surrounding area a bit.

The Promenade des Anglais a very popular but expensive, a less expensive area is around Ave Jean Medecin look for Rue Biscarra the restaurants are excellent and cheaper. To eat really cheap look out for a pancake called Socca made from chickpea flour it is very filling, cheap and tasty. You will find it for sale all over Nice.

Hi

Has anyone travelled from Nice Port to Monte Carlo. Do you recommed the bus, local train or big train.

Are the costs very different?

Nina .

I have travelled from Villefranche to Nice by bus and to Monte Carlo by train. If the train goes directly from Nice to Monte Carlo then I would recommend that as the trains are clean, fast and on time.

I second that, the trains are very quick, frequent and clean. Usually the local and mainline trains stop at Nice and Monaco.

We are traveling from Bangkok to Nice during June. Our final destiny is Corsica france. Therefore we need to change the flight from international to local flight. Is anyone familiar with the airport in Nice? Is it possible to have only 2 hours for the connecting flight? Please help suggesting. :)

However, the bus is cheaper at one Euro each way on the 100 bus service. Takes about 1 hour to Monaco and service at least every 30 minutes.

You do not say how you are getting from Bangkok to Nice. Which airline are you using? You will certainly be arriving in Europe at another airport before you fly to Nice. Where do you arrive in Europe? If you are using the same airline company from say Paris to Corsica via Nice, ask them to transfer your baggage directly to your final destination and get a boarding card printed for both your flight to Nice and your flight onwards from Nice to Corsica.

Other than that, if you need to collect your baggage at Nice and then check it in for your flight to Corsica, I would think that 2 hours would present no problem as Nice is a small airport. You must not waste time between collecting your baggage and checking it in again. If you are able to check in online ahead of your flights that would be a good thing.

If you are travelling with Air France or Air Corsica these are the same aircraft using a flight codeshare. I would think if you are flying with Air France from Paris, you will be able to check in your baggage directly to either Bastia or Ajaccio without needing to see it or do anything at Nice about it.

Air France flies from Terminal 2. There is a regular shuttle bus between terminals 1 and 2.

This will give you details of the connecting shuttle service between terminals 1 and 2 and the car parks.

Austrian and Air France are not in the same group of airline companies so you will need to reclaim your baggage at Terminal 1 and take it with you to Terminal 2 and recheck it in again.

I would think that you will manage this in two hours. You must check in your baggage about 40 mins at the latest before your flight leaves for Corsica.

This is the airport's website http://en.nice.aeroport.fr/ .

If you have serious concerns contact Air France now before you leave home and get their advice and help. http://www.airfrance.com/cgi-bin/AF/TH/en/common/home/home/HomePageAction.do
