We did a T/A last year and, sadly, the option we used is no longer available....FlyGlobespan!

Anyway, I checked out a couple of sites that offer best one-way flights and the cost in sterling is over £400 :(

Then looked at aerlingus.com and you can go from Heathrow to Orlando, via Dublin for £307 on the 4th, from Gatwick it is a couple of pounds less, from Birmingham £293 and Manchester £295. Incredibly it is more to simply go Dublin to Orlando!! :rofl We went to Sanford Orlando last year, and spent a couple of days in Orlando before driving down to Fort Lauderdale...no problem at all. Looks like this one goes to Orlando International, which is slightly better than Sanford if you want to spend a day or two in Orlando pre-cruise.

try
bt-store.com
1800flyeurope.com

Another option is to use the return for another TA later in the year.

The sites I looked at are the ones W/J mentions, and cost is just over £400 one way! Aer-Lingus is better priced on this occasion.

Try http://www.cheapOair.com looks like a bargain here.
http://www.cheapoair.com/Default.aspx?tabid=1685&sid=1&oa=LHR&da=MIA&adt=1&chd=0&snr=0&infl=0&infs=0&dd=05-06-2010&tt=ONEWAYTRIP

Another site I use is Kayak, Cheaptickets- search airlines you would not normally pick as first choice- Air France, Lufthansa etc- you can find some bargains that way. We got round trips from Philadelphia to Barcelona for $376 in May.

Thanks emdia for that, have not used them before. The pricing (4th May) is certainly better than the bt or 1800 sites mentioned earlier, but similar to Aer-Lingus. Gives me another search option in the future!

Thanks for all the thoughts on getting one-way flights still trying. it seems to be a better deal taking the return even if you did not use it a lot less than a single.

Will try the other sites suggested later today

thanks

Just a thought, in case- if you only plan on using one way of a return ticket always use the first leg- if you don't then the airlines will automatically cancel the second leg. For example, you plan to cruise QM 2 to NYC from Southampton, and of course you wish to fly back, so you book a roundtrip ticket from Heathrow to JFK, but skip the first leg. When you get to JFK you will find your ticket has been invalidated//// :whoops

Good point must use the outbound leg.

The other thing is to book the inbound as far in the future(at no extra cost) as possible and to try to join up with another cruise

Gives a better chance you can use it.

Thanks for all the tips :D have booked a flight from Dublin to Boston for April planning to spend a few days there and then take a flight to Washington for another few days then fly to Miami to do the trans on Jewel hubby will not drive in the states.

I have booked the return flight from Orlando to Dublin 30th November maybe it will fit in with another trans going over Oct/Nov if not it was just 65 pounds more for both of us than the one way in April so return was a better option.

I will have to take a look now for the best price on Jewel for 6th May
