Hello and happy new year all forum members !
My wife and I (we are in our mid 50s) are flying out to Bodrum in mid september for a week holiday.
We have experienced Rhodes and Lindos 3 times and loved it but want to try Turkey with a view to possibly buy a little apartment there.
Unfortunately I am reading that the beaches in Bodrum and its surrounding resorts have shingles. That wont do for us. We want beaches with fine sand. We also would like a nice s/c apartment with a private beach or in alternative an hotel with a private beach or just an apartment next to a beach where one car hire sunbeds and umbrella (not a public beach, with all that comes with it !).
Hiring a car is not a certainty this time so it is important I do not feel disappointed of the resort I would be staying in.
What would you suggest ? Is Altinkum the only place that thicks all the boxes ?
Regards
Welcome onboard
You'll find the Turkish coast is mainly shingle or coarse sand rather than fine sand. If you are going to Turkey for the beaches, Dalyan and Turtle Beach should be high on your agenda as should Olu Dinez and the blue Lagoon. The Bodrum area isn't the best for beaches. Altinkum is also an option where the beach is more sandy. Most beaches are public rather than private. You might find members Resort Reports useful.

The beach at Ortakent is nice and nearby Camel Beach is beautiful, soft sand, wide beach and just a couple of bars.
