Well, I have found an apartment in the Victoria 1 and I have contacted the owner so hopefully I will book it. I read a few reviews and the apartments sound great - a couple of people mentioned that you have to pay for sunbeds around the pool - is this true? How much are they? I must admit I've never heard of having to pay for sunbeds at the pool of the accommodation you are staying in only at the beach/

Victoria Court 1 is a friendly complex - we go a couple of times a year and always look forward to our next visit (March2010).

The sunbeds and parasols are €1.50 for each item - well they were in November. There is also a pile of 6 plastic, but sturdy, chairs should you not want a sunbed - these are free. The pool area opens at 0930 and NOT before - when you stay there you will get to know what I mean !!!

You need to hand over your money at the Victoria Services office which faces the pool, they will give you a ticket for each item you 'buy' and a key to unlock the chains that secure the piles of sunbeds. Suggest you look carefully at the sunbeds you chose as they are not all in good condition. When you have taken your sunbeds you need to relock the padlock and return the key to the office.

When this office is not open (Sat pm and all day Sunday) the tickets are normally in the bar or maybe from someone around the pool.

Keep your tickets as there are occasions where a ticket check is done to catch those who have managed to get sunbeds and not pay for them - taking one from someone who has paid for one and no longer wants it is normally not a problem.

Taking you own sunbeds from apartments to go around the pool was stopped last year.

As I understand it the money from the sunbeds etc goes into the community pot and contributes towards the upkeep of the pool and garden areas - which are kept spotlessly clean and in top class condition.

Regards, Chris

Hi there, Thanks so much for your replies - so helpful! I got an email confirming my booking and the owner is sending me the booking form - I don't know what number the apartment is yet. Can you recommend good places to eat near the apartments (breakfast, snacks, evening meals)? Also any recommendations for restaurants in general because we will be out and about! Is Hippo the best supermarket? Can you direct me from the apartments? Thanks Again for all your help!

Oh - there isn't a washing machine in the apartment (I must have picked the only apartment without one). I hope not to be doing much washing but we will be keeping the luggage down due to Ryanair's charges (and I always overpack anyway) - are there any laundry facilities in Victoria Court 1? Thanks.

no there are no laundry faclities do you know what apartment number is where did you book it from

I booked it from Owners Direct - I don't know the apartment number?

As Botty says, there are no laundry facilities in VC1 but I suggest you ask Victoria Services - in the past they did a 'service wash' for those apartments that didn't have washing machines - for a fee of course ! They may still do.

Hippo Dino is easy to find - from VC1, turn left and go all the way down the hill towards the sea and turn left before you cross the road at the end. You will then see Arona Gran in the distance to your right. Follow the road towards Arona Gran and Hippo Dino is on your left as you approach Arona Gran (which will still be on your right).

VC1 have a 'drinking water' dispensing machine so you can fill up your large water bottles and not have to carry them from the shops. The price has always been 10c for a litre but there was talk of this changing. Of course you will need an empty bottle to start with as it only dispenses water - Victoria Services may have an empty one they can give to you.

Thanks - we are all footy fans! And that's a great idea for water! Where do I find Victoria Services?

I'm told Paradise Park hotel (go out of VC1. turn right, up the hill, past Spar and its on your right) do a fantastic buffet.

Regards, Chris

You will not be able to miss Victoria Services, its within VC1, next to the Cruise Inn bar and by one of the gates leading into the pool area.

Good luck - must go, off to spain for a few days.
