Just booked last minute for this Hoseasons site for next weeks half term.
Just wondered if anyone had any info on this site.
Did stay at Presthaven Sands (Haven) for May half term and had a great time so are really looking forward to returning to Wales.
Any info especially on local eateries (chinese, indian ????) would be greatly appreciated.
Mandy
My parents had a van there for many years - they were on what was called Park One and it was lovely. You are really near the beach and have a lovely pool area. There are a variety of pubs etc nearby and a chip shop I think.
At the end of the road towards the beach there are a few pubs and basic amusements ( a few ). Towards the road there are 2 main restaurants - one is called the Totem Pole and is a restaurant and has been there years and seems to do very well and a small pub / restaurant that has always had good feedback. I can't remember any Chinese / Indian sorry - but you aren't far from Prestatyn - there must be something there!
Near to the Presthaven Sands Caravan Park is The Bells which is a Brewers and they have improved over the last 2 years and now have a much bigger non smoking area and childrens area.
My parents haven't been there for about 7 yrs but it still has a good reputation and I know that the owners were very strict re the behaviour of visitors ----- we used to love our visits. Didn't know It was Hoseasons now -
Have a great holiday - any more questions please ask - by pm if need be
That was just what I wanted to read. I think we are staying on park 2 and it does say we are 5 minutes away from the main amenities but that's not a problem. We loved the beach at the Presthaven site and son just loved the sand dunes so hopefully it will be fine enough for us to get some sea air walking on the beach. Thanks for the eating out info. We are easy to please so will try any recommendations. I think we passed The Bells in may. We did eat on the site and in Rhyl on our last visit and we tried the chip shop near the Haven site.
OOH I am so ready for this break. Roll on friday when we break up from school.
If I have anymore questions I'll be in touch.
Many thanks
Mandy
The pool is really nice and has a sauna as I remember - the beach is about a 5 minute walk away -----
Am sure you'll have a good break - hope the weather is good!
We're over mid week so will be thinking of you as we pass - may be at the Bells as well ----- if you go past on the 25th toot!!!!!
PS Have just remembered that at Talacre itself there is a pub near teh beach that used to do really good pub meals - cheap too - and a good 2 for the price of one on spirits if you're keen!
PPS Are you a teacher??????? If so ----------- ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Do like a vodka or 2 so any pub that does 2 for 1 will have open doors for me.
Will def be trying the pool. Son is a real waterbaby.
If we are in The Bells on 25th we are the ones with the Yorkshire accent.
Mandy
I'm in school too - we're from the Potteries ( Stoke on Trent ) though but my boss is from Yorshire so will be able to translate the accent if need be!
We're waiting for Ofsted too so I will be the small weary one propping up the bar - with a large double Brandy in hand!!!!!!!!
Have a good break - am sure you deserve it
What did you think of Talacre....would you recommend ?
There is also a couple of amusement arcades, chippy and a couple of pubs in Talacre village itself along with the Smugglers cafe on the way to the beach which did a lovely breakfast.
We had been planning to return to Talacre for October half term again this year but ours is a week later this year and it looks like Talacre is only half open & they are not offering mon-fri breaks for that week so we are planning to go to a Haven site is Wales instead.
Hope this has helped.
Mandy
Many thanks for your rep;ly....there is another Hoseasons site very near to Snowdon, which looks very nice too... I hope you enjoy your break at Haven.....
The accommodation is listed as new for 2009 so hopefully should still be in nearly new condition but we're just worried about the facilities. We'll probably be cooking most nights in the caravan to keep costs down but just wondered what the on site restaurant might be like in case we decide to splash out.
Any advice would be really appreciated as we really thought we couldn't afford a holiday this year but at that price we can just about manage.
Thanks in advance.
We're going to Talacre ourselves in August, park looks nice, not heard any bad reviews and lots of things for kids to do
Have been to Talacre Beach a number of times in the past and know folk who had a van there -- it was a lovely site. I think there are 3 'sections to it' and all 3 are great. There is a good space between vans and the shop, and the club and pool area used to be great. There's a beach a short walk away. Have never seen a bad van on there -
Hope you have a great holiday and the sunshines for you!
Not sure how much we'll be on the park, seems like theres plenty to do in the area.
Sorry don't know much abut the kids entertainment stuff
Hello, I just wondered whether is any feedback with respect to Talacre from the last holiday season. This resort is currently on my shortlist and I would like to book something up very soon. I am particularly interested in the swimming pool, cleansiness of the place and the how good the children entertainment is.
