I fly out on Monday with BA and had to fill out an API online, but it does say that you can do it at check in. :que

Thanks for the link, del949.
I can't find out how up to date it is eirther.

Hwever, the Monarch site states:
"During 2009 the UK Government will implement its requirement for Advanced Passenger Information, the UK Home Office e-Borders scheme, collecting API from ALL passengers travelling internationally into and out of the UK"

So you expect that in 2010, API would be required for all flights out of the UK. Or would you? :que

thanks for that info, I'll be interested in what they say.
I'll report back when I get a reply from Monarch Customer Services.

What worries me is that on TA I read a post where someone had queried API with monarch and got a totally different reply than mine (see below)!
"Good Morning
At the moment, we are experiencing technical difficulties with the API website.
If you can provide the details, we can add these for you.

We need the following information:
Full name that appears on passport (including middle name if applicable)
D.O.B
Passport Number
Passport expiry date
Passport issue date
Place passport was issued
Nationality

Kind Regards"

The highlighting of the word 'need' is mine.
I've actually decided that if Monarch come back and tell me it's not required (again), I'm going to send the details above to them anyway and take copies of the emails with me to the airport.

It just totally hacks me off when things change and nobody is singing from the same bloody hymnsheet. :banghead:

PPC,
even on the list you were given re info required they have managed to miss off "gender".

Thanks, del.

To be fair, that list was posted by someone on TA so maybe it wasn't Monarch's ommission. :think

I'll provide the info that Monarch post on their website - still no reply from their customer services.

I had to fill in one of these in December 2008 flying with British Airways to India but Ive never had to do one since, last year I flew to Germany ( Lufthansa schedule flight ) and Turkey with Onur (charter flight ) and back to India with Air India, so its a bit worring if these are being collected to help with any security risks that it is not being enforced fully

Polly I wouldn't hold your breath if you are waiting for a reply from Monarch. I e-mailed them last August and still haven't had a reply, although mine was about extra luggage allowance for charity in case they had had a change of heart. Have been and come back home since then.

to be fair to Monarch, I did get a pretty quick reply to my query (sent 3rd Feb 17:51, received reply 5th Feb 09:41).

My problem is that I don't BELIEVE the reply I got (based on things I've read on here and TA). :que

I'm going to give them until middle of this week to reply again.

If I don't hear anything by then, I'll email again - and again - and again.

You did better than me. I took their 'no reply' as a no.

Actually, on the 3 occasions I've needed to email Monarch customer services:
once to ask for confirmation of hold luggage
once to request a specific room
once to ask about whether we need to provide API details
I've had prompt replies.

As other charter airlines (and some tour operators - not Cosmos though - who fly Monarch) are asking for API, I have a suspicion that the answer I was given on Friday may not be totally up-to-date.

I will be interested in what Monarch have to say from what i have read on other forums Monarch is the only one that says you dont need one for goa as you say PPC if there information is out of date we are in the mire, i would think they have shipped a good few thousand of to Goa since this API came in so i would think they should no what the situation is by now, i have booked with Olympic i dont go while April so i havnt got any tickets or paper work of them yet i dont know if they are going to give us an API to fill in or not,

Just looked on Qatar see below it doesn't look like Goa is included!!! but we are stopping off in Mumbai for 4 days so I am now even more confused!!

if you go online to qatar airways and check your booking-need your booking ref number and usually lead name on booking.

and when you see you booking info at the bottom of the page they will ask you to go to next page for API........passport numbers and DOB's and names ..simples.
this covers you all the way to GOA.
