Hi sorry i havent got back to you earlier............
June weather in Anaheim/LA - early 70s , we were unlucky when we went last year as it was the worst weather for years. That said it was still t shirt and shorts. Weather is the opposite to florida. June is always gloomy early on, but when the sun breaks through it is very warm. In fact their 70 degrees appears to be a lot hotter than ours back in the uk.
June weather in Vegas was very hot, you are in the desert so it will be warmer. Again for us cloud in the morning, but the sun soon burns it off. June is an excellent time to go as every month that passes it gets very very hot.
If staying in Anaheim there is shopping, the garden walk which is full of shops, massive multiplex cinema, 24/7 stores and loads of restaurants. There are the dearer section and a fabulous serve yourself chinese, pizzas, we ate steaks the lot. I dont remember how long you are going, but we went there for 8 nights and wished we had stayed longer. The best hotel for being i min from the disneyland entrance is the carousel inn and suites. The breakfast area is on the top floor of a two story building. From the breakfast room you can see mickey mouse. This hotel is very nice with a roof top pool. It isn't very big but families venture here. Restaurants are right outside of your hotel and a Mcdonalds right next door. The buses for trips pick you up from outside the front.
The hotels i mentioned are extremely near everything. The cortona inn and suites is about a 15 mins walk from DL but it passed a lot of shops and the 24/7 shop for drinks and souvenirs was very near. All the hotels sell trips. Out of all the hotels i would go back to the carousel inn. The castle inn is opposite DL as well.
If you fly with VIRGIN they will ring you at home a couple of weeks before you go, and also their trips they offer will be in their brochure.
If you have a virgin credit card or apply for one and get it before you book, you will get 10% off your holiday.
Virgin do not seem to do all the beaches, but i did a right up and i am sure i put numbers down so people knew how to get to the beach. Venice beach is an eye opener, if you go do not be scared, its the way they are. Its got ambiance thats for sure. Visit the farmers market, this was part of our trip to the beach, well worth it. Going to hollywood you will spend about an hour there, but twin it with the stars homes and beveley hills and all the shopping thats well expensive.
You do get times for yourself, and it is long enough, the bus for the beaches come back for you, or they still and give you the history etc, which was nice. The beaches was done by a company in the same area as the hotels, you book there or the hotel will get you the number. I wouldnt book anything until you get there as it is cheaper.
The anaheim convention centre sells everything.
FUNWAY holidays go to Anaheim they can use virgin planes, but it may be difficult to get to LV thats why we went with virgin.
I will try and find my write up i did.

ps............... edit: information.
Heres my review, the telephone number you require for any trips especially the beaches is
(714) 817-9733 - Orange County Bus Tour Company,
You ring this number free from your hotel room, they pick you off and drop you off, they do tours quite reasonable.

thanks for that, some really good information!! well the plan is to have 5 nights in LA and the 5 nights in las vegas. would love to have longer but with work etc, thats what we have time for. still im really looking forward to it!!
ive had a look at all the hotels you mentioned & seem to be able to get the cortona inn & suites at a good price, however reseacrhing south harbour boulevard where the hotels are you mentioned i may have found another which looks really nice & also at a good price!!
we will be booking our flights seperate to our hotels. do you remember i know you should have a credit card at check in in las vegas, do you also need one in LA? as some hotels mention this or a cash deposit? im only asking as we dont have a credit card. i was thinking of getting a pre paid card for check in in vegas.
thanks for all the information
Forgot to add that the cortona inn and suites, carousel etc and some others give you a free breakfast, this will save you a lot of money. I recommend you look for the symbols when doing your research.
What other hotels did you think was a good price ? I will know hopefully where they are in relation to the entertainment etc, remember having a free breakfast will save you time and money.
I used my cc all the time, but cash is fine, and remember travellers checks are welcome as its money to them and they give you the change back.
just read your trip report, really enjoyed it, thanks again!! the hotel was hotel menage anaheim boutique hotel, its also on south harbour boulevard, had a good price. do you know it?
No i do not know this hotel, but looks nice and good reviews. Quite often they change the names of the hotels so it gets confusing.....
yeah ive had a quick look, i thought it looked nice & found it cheaper than the cortona inn & suites
I now know why i didn't recognise the hotel name, it used to be called the Holiday Inn Its had a major re-vamp.
we went to LA last years and stayed 4 nights in Beverley Garlands Holiday Inn. The hotel was excellent with a really good restaurant (reasonably priced). we did the hollywood tour including the stars houses, beverley hills and a trip to the farmers market. All organised through the hotel. there was a free bus into town - and we regularly used the tube to go to other places we wanted to visit.
my husbands visa arrived today so i hvae now booked our flights, woo hoo!! have also booked flight from LA to Vegas, booked the hotel menage for our LA hotel, now just gotta find one for Vegas!! Thanks for all the information everyone
Let me know about the Menage, we are looking at that one for next year looks really nice. x
yeah will do definatley, will update after holiday in june!! i thought it looked really nice & it was a good price aswell, compared to others & since it was on the same road as the other hotels you had suggested i thought we would go for it!! im glad i came accross it, the cortona inn & suites which we were considering were more expensive. x
Keep an eye on the Las Vegas Hotels topic. There are several offers there already that go to the end of the year, particularly at MGM. Will keep posting any that I find.
luci
Thanks luci, will do, thats the only thing we have left to book now is our vegas hotel
http://disneyland.disney.go.com/disneyland/en_US/reserve/listings?name=SpecialOffersListingsPage i bought mine before i went as you do not require transport to the park from the hotel. When you buy them you will need a printer to print off the e ticket, then present the e ticket at the park, no lines either. It was well cheaper than buying it from the hotel direct.
Hollywood, Universal, seaworld etc buy with the transport when in resort. The number i gave you for the beaches is the only one that does them so keep that number safe.
The menage actually is closer i think looking at the map. I forgot to say look on the disneyland website Hollywood, Universal, seaworld etc buy with the transport when in resort. The number i gave you for the beaches is the only one that does them so keep that number safe.
disneyland and california adventure park combined as one park leads into another, they will stamp your hand. We went into the park every single day, the parades and fire-works are amazing. A great place uk prices to eat is the cheese cake factory, huge portions of steak etc or anything off the menu. The deserts are cheesecake and its fresh and massive. They have a bar as well.
You will need a pass for
yeah i will definatley keep the number safe, will put it with all the travel documents when we print them off, thanks again for that. do you know can you just buy a 1 day disney ticket? the website only has 3 days etc, we would only be going the 1 day as theres so much we want to do before vegas, its so exciting!! where did you stay in vegas?
yeah ive heard of this cheesecake factory but in florida though, we never went but heard its very nice!! think we will have to have a try
There's a Cheesecake Factory at the Forum Shops in Vegas too and a Grand Lux at the Venetian which is run by the same company.
Heres a currency convertor for you ..... http://www.oanda.com/currency/converter/
$97 = to £62 pp.
It will be exceptionally more if you go to the gate when in resort, i advise to buy before you go.
