I went in the flamingo hotel as i wanted a good pool scene and it had natural habitat around the gardens. The pools as there were several were lovely. I upgraded to a go room and they are far more superior here in the UK. When i got to the flamingo they upgraded me again to their penthouse suite as i called it, it was amazing, because of the recession it was dirt cheap. It was dead central to everywhere. If i ever went back to Vegas i would use this again, but if i had the money would go in the belliago or the wynn. I was lucky i did everything i wanted to do whilst there, the grand canyon and rapids by helicopter tour with maverick and saw amazing shows. But i preferred california better, but the experience of going there is second to none.
Keep an eye on Lucis tips for booking hotels, she is very experienced on that, plus it depends if you want a cheapy hotel or one you will remember for the right reasons Luci is a veteran with a young heart and an expert on gambling if you want a fix whilst out there x
ive been looking at the hotels topic & lucis offers, i tried to look in to one but the price went up, perhaps im doing something wrong!? lol. however i will keep on looking
Planet hollywood is more central than MGM, plus it has a good size mall underneath you. Good for buying bottles of water and snacks and good magic show in there. If you go to a show, i recommend buying from a booth called txts 4 tonight, you get great offers. I one i used was outside bills casino, next door to the flamingo hotel.
Thanks for all your help so far.
It will be approx 78 in Las Vegas and approx 73 in Anaheim .............
ive been meaning to ask with that phone number for the beach tours, how do you pay them? do you have to give card details over the phone? or can you pay cash on pick up?
im so excited, i know its still a little while a way, but still.... woo hoo!!
also do you have any recommendations of good restaurants in las vegas?
What type of restaurant and budget per person for Vegas?
well we like steak, so any nice steak restaurants etc, also buffets for breakfast, would consider on the evening if anything good etc. dont really have a budget as such, dont want to pay risiculous prices like over $50 each for a steak, lol, if its good food im sure its worth it, you know sometimes in orlando we would eat somewhere a little cheaper a few of the nights, but wish we had spent the little bit extra for the better quality if you know what i mean, with the meat i mean.
If you want a table on the patio opposite the fountains, you can't book it in advance. I would suggest getting there 30-45 mins before you intend eating and put your name down for a patio table. They will give you a buzzer and you can go and gamble until it goes off.
Their French Onion soup and warm flourless chocolate cake are really good.
Bally's Steakhouseis very good. It can be expensive as it's a la carte and you pay for your sides on top of the price of the steak. However if you go to Tickets4Tonight you can pay $3pp for a voucher which gives you the entree at half price. Steaks run about $40 so $20 with the voucher, but sides are full price. Excellent service there.
If you want a coffee shop they also do vouchers for Planet Dailies inside Planet Hollywood where Filet Mignon is around $26 so $13 with with voucher and that includes sides. If you decide to have dessert there be warned that they are massive and two of us struggled to finish one between us.

Thanks luci, do you have any recommendations for breakfast?
http://www.destinationcoupons.com Very good with a live freshly made crepe section.
We also like the buffet at Harrah's for breakfast.
Costs about $15 without the coupon.
For a cheap decent breakfast try La Salsa Cantina. Ham, bacon or sausage with egg, breakfast potatooes and a flour tortilla for $3.95.

Thanks luci, had a look at some of there websites, so excited!! lol
The beach tours ring free from your hotel room, they pick you up, then one of two things will happen. Depending on how many there are of you, you could go back to their office and pay there, or, pay on the bus itself.
I loved the Harley Davison for steak and food in general, huge portions, but then you will expect that in any American state.
In Anaheim the majority of food outlets sell breakfast, so no need to worry
also one thing im never quite sure off in america is on the tipping, i get taxis, restaurants etc, but you know if you were to buy park or show tickets not at the gate should you tip or not? im thinking that if you buy tickets to disney or universal at the entrance you dont have to tip? is that right? im thinking of when we were in orlando, but if we brought from a person in the hotel or a booth in vegas for a show? should we tip? i get confused. lol.
I bought my Disneyland tickets from the disneyland web site as you got free days, to pay on the gate is very expensive i thought. No tips there. If you go on the beach tour, you will have a narrator who has excellent info on your trip, yes a tip is required if you enjoyed it, i tip what i feel it was worth. I bought my other trips from the hotel or our rep, neither was tipped, only the coach driver.
Thank you again, lol. is it this year you are thinking of going or next year? i dont suppose you went to walmart while you were there did you? or in vegas? ive been looking on their website & i think there is one not to far from either location actually.
Another good place for breakfast is 'Cravings' in Mirage. We always have a breakfast in there, great choice and very good quality.
Tipping - You're tipping for service so if someone provides you with a service that you feel was good or better, then tip, normally around 10-15%. To be honest, I would never tip someone selling tickets, it's their job and they can hardly go 'above and beyond' as such, unless they pointed out a deal that may save money I guess?
Cheers,
TC
Thanks for that, we do like a good steak i dont suppose you went to wallmart did you while you were there?
You can get the 203 bus from the Spring Mountain side of the Fashion Show Mall and get off at Rainbow. They run about every 20 to 30 minutes on that route. When you get on, ask the driver to tell you when you get to Walmart.
Another Walmart is on Tropicana. Not sure what the cross street is for that one, but again, just ask the driver. I think those two are the closet to the Strip. We didn't really like the Tropicana one, it seemed a bit grubby in comparison to the Rainbow/Spring Mountain one.
Thanks for that, gotta love walmart, lol so the 203 bus takes you straight there? sounds good to me!! Thanks again
