If you are looking at the Concorde in Sharks Bay then you will be close to the airport, in a quiet area, but with some shops and bars in Soho Square by your hotel, but you won't get a nice beach. Hotels here have jetties to get into the sea over the coral, although there are sandy areas for sunbathing. Here if you were expecting a long sandy beach to walk along and the opportunity to paddle and walk into the sea, you wouldn't get it. You would in other parts of Sharm though.
You would definitely feel safe here as a single woman, and AI offers good value. I personally would choose Sharm over Majorca, even though I love Majorca and have been there a dozen times. I feel the value is better in Egypt (among other things).

to go on holiday this year, now i have been looking at Majorca and then a friend of mine suggested trying Sharm! the problem i have is that i have never been before and like to feel safe, is it safe for a single mum? what would you do? Majorca or the hotel in Sharm i was looking at is Concorde front........which would you choose if you were me??? 
well i am not one for loads of nightlife so a quietish area with just enough shops, bars to have a mooch round, a nice beach, not too far from the airport as i cant stand long transfers, good food, nice pool and thats about it really...............maybe a couple of satelite channels on the tv as i often like to relax for an hour on the bed before i turn in. Thats about it really. Would prefer all inclusive.
