hi everyone,
We want to have a caravan trip with 3 and 5 years old children,
we are from middle east, so have'nt decided yet the exact location.
we think about 10-15 days in caravan,
always sleeping in camping park, usually trips in the bosom of nature, maybe day or 2 in big cities.
can you help me with costs estimation - how much money we need to save for this plesure....?
and how practical is it to have this trip with private car and tent.
thank you very much!
I am sure that our members will be happy to offer advice, but we might need more information from you to be able to answer specifically.
You say you are from the Middle East:
- Where are you coming from?
- Are you arriving by air and then hiring a car and a caravan
- Are you hiring a camping car/campervan when you arrive, in which to stay or tour
- Are you hiring a car and then going to a specific campsite and hiring either a caravan or a tent?
(You will need to book and pay in advance to reserve a place depending on the season and country)
- What do you want on your campsite - a swimming pool, play park for children, planned children's activities and entertainment, a shop and a cash machine?
These will help us for a start!
You will require a credit card to hire a car (especially in France ) as an idea for you we take our own Touer around France and Spain usually we take 22 days o have our vacation
We spend around £500 on diesel and Autoroute/Autopista tolls whilst towing -- driving solo (without a trailer/caravan) will cost a lot less. As there are two of us we tend to spend around €25 a day on food and drink (you do not mention if you drink Alcohol I know some of my friends from the Middle East do not) but add the two children then your costs may be as much WE end up spending around £1500 overall
Work out where you would like to go to and come back I'm sire that Alsacienne and I can help you get some good ideas
Is it safe to stop in the French aires in a motorhome ?

IF you mean the Autoroute ones NO
The village ones in the Northern parts of France are safer than those down the A9 corridor to Spain though if you are taking kids a campsite is much much safer
I will be a getting a ferry about 8pm, I then wanted to drive for 2/4 hours and park up for one night in one of the toll road aires as I didnt want to arrive late at a campsite for the first night... you dont think thats a good idea ?

Not a good idea
there is are campsites near to Calais but do not use the aires there are a lot of thefts reported there due to illegals trying to get stuff before they try to get into the UK
I can recommend Chateau du Gandspette http://www.campingcheque.co.uk/france/nord-pas-de-calais/kawan-village-chateau-du-gandspette-c132.html
