Flight Only / Airline and Airports

Discussions relating to flight only, airlines and airports.
Hi,

I would like to know if Monarch have any new planes that are on order and that will be arriving in 2010, if they do what type are they and when are they coming, because the 6 Boeing 787's that Monarch have on order are not coming for a while yet and Monarch's Boeing 767 lease from Thomas Cook runs out in the Summer so G-DIMB will be going back to Thomas Cook in May.

TBROWN,

There's nothing on order other than the 787's. As you're probably aware, due to design delays they aren't expected until 2013. Existing aircraft will be used until their arrival.

Hi Dazbo
do you know where the Monarch plane on MON2490 out of Gatwick to Goa today at 18:50 is coming in from.

Earlier this year it was on the MON337/6 Calgary route but that flight is not showing up on the Gatwick website.

Thanks

Prettypollycat,

They may have swapped the schedule around. It should be comining in from Goa on the MON6383 in to Manchester then positioning down to LGW as MON383P (P is the suffix for positioning flight).

Thanks, Dazbo.

Mon6383 is due in to Manchester at 15:17 (should have been 14:45) so should that give enough time to clean & position at Gatwick for an on-time flight?

Thanks

Prettypollycat,

Once passengers and baggage are off-loaded, it'll be turned around straight away and head down to LGW within about an hour of arriving at MAN. Given it's running about 30 minutes late at the moment, it should be in LGW for about 1630-1645 so that gives a littler over 2 hours to prepare it for the onward flight. That should be enough time providing everything goes to plan. If there is any delay, it should only be short. G-EOMA is the inbound aircraft that should be operating your flight.

Many thanks, Dazbo - we'll be setting off for Gatwick in the next half hour. We've got a 200 mile journey so like to allow plenty of time.

I am flying to Cancun on May the 25th, and I am interested to know what the seat configiration for this flight is. Is it correct that the seat configiration is 2-4-2.

Many thanks in advance.

whyikit,

Welcome onboard :tup
Your flights are operated by the Airbus A330-200. These are configured 3-3-3 in economy apart from the rear 8 rows that are 2-3-2. You'll find further aircraft information on our What Aircraft? guide (link below).

Hi

Just wanted to post a thank you to the pilot of our last Monarch plane -

We were one of the 'fortunate' people to have our flight from Kittalia to Manchester cancelled on Sunday 21st.
Must admit, we were looked after superbly well by Inghams who put us up in a local hotel immediately but came away most impressed with the pilot who the next day apologised for the delay and admitted that he had taken the decision that the flight from Bristol ( where our plane was coming from) would not happen. (Hence our flight cancellation).

The reason was an engine problem and I can only thank him for his professionalism. All passengers on our flight applauded his announcements re the cancellation as a thank you and credit goes to him for standing at the front of the plane at the end of the flight to answer questions re why the flight was delayed by a whole day. I think most passengers thanked him ---

I know that the passengers at Bristol lost part of their holiday (stuck in Bristol while we were stuck in Lapland must have been so annoying when you know you should be on holiday) but I am sure that they would thank him too for his professionalism and the difficult decision he must have made to refuse to fly.

After a 36 hr delay would I fly with Monarch again ---------- if it meant someone putting my safety first --- you bet!

Hi Presto2, Couldn't agree more. Living in the Luton area, I know many people who work for Monarch, I fly with them regularly and although not the best airline in the world from an on board service point of view, all the engineers I know have said to me that safety really is the number 1 priority and they fly Monarch themselves.

In your case, I'm pretty sure the decision to fly was probably even out of the pilots hands as it was probably grounded by the engineers.

I must admit, I fly with pretty much any airline but I always feel confident when I'm flying with Monarch.

Hi

He told us that it had been his decision because though it would have been ok to fly he was concerned re the extreme temperatures.
Whatever - nice to know that safety is a priority and puttin 2 lots of passengers up in hotels for the night couldnt have been cheap!

a judy,

Please supply flight numbers when asking about aircraft so we know which flight / aircraft you are on. Are you on the ZB504/5 or ZB506/7? These are operated by an Airbus A320-200. Seating is personal preference and there aren't any 'best' seats really. All the seats on the A320/1's are the same, left or right with the same seat pitch so it makes no difference really. It's whatever you prefer personally. The expection is extra legroom seating.

a judy,

As I mention above, it makes no difference. Both the front rows are behind a bulkhead so provide the same legroom.

Just back. Return flight to LGW- in a word 'orrible'.
In more words:- cramped, stuffy, broken trays, smelly toilets, no IFE in my vision, kid kicking back of my seat all the way home from India, expensive refreshments, no in-flight info from the pilot during the flight, telling us where we were.
I don't know how they meet H&S standards for a long haul flight, they are a disgrace.
These are not cheap flights any longer, in fact we booked and paid for TC not Monarghh! but got transferred to them. Never again.
Too old now to rough it like this. The end no longer justifies the means. :cry
