Fas as i'm aware there have never been any problems around Sandakan & Turtle Island and are very mainstream tourist destinations.

There have been a couple of previous problems on Sipaden (Bottom Right of map) - but security is very tight now, and unlikely to be repeated. I'd be amazed if Turtle Island is excluded even by the FO or any insurance.

We're also going to Turtle island in April and then staying in a river lodge on the Menanggol river the following night.
We want to travel as light as possible for the 2-night trip, so can anyone tell me if beach towels are provided or available to hire on Turtle Island please?
