We stayed in Stalis in Aug '08 and loved our holiday. Although as Wizzard said it is mainly geared towards the Brits but nevertheless, there are lots of restaurants serving some excellent Greek Cuisine. Being that you're intending to go half board, I don't suppose you're wondering too much about the food available in general. As for safety, we found it to be very safe- lots of families tending to stay there along with singles and couples.
could you tell us more about what your worries are and we'll see if we can put your mind to rest
hi just unsure about it as i have only been to sidari and used to that.the appartments or hotel look lovely its just the unnone really...with been half board how much spending money to take and with me be on my own with daughter etc
I've also been to corfu but not Sidari but from what I've read on resort reviews, I'd say that Stalis is of a similar nature. Personally, I think you'll have a great time and there really isn't anything more to worry about in Stalis than Sidari.
We are the opposite to you haha, we have stayed in Stalis and actually in the Anastasia Hotel which is fab and very safe and suitable for you and your daughter...we are going back this same hotel which is a thing we never do this september after a fab holiday there last sept...we just booked 1 wek in sidari for May and I have just posted a post on the corfu site asking all about Sidari.
Go for it you will luv everything about it xx
The Hotel is situated on the road above the beach road, its approx 5-10 min walk to the beach road. There is an underpass that takes you under the main road and as you come out you can go right then left and you will join beach road...from here you are sort of at the junction where if you went right you would be walking towards Malia...(not for you with young daughter) or left and you have a long long road of gorgeous bars and restaurants and a lot of them look out to sea...I just loved the place.
There are many supermarkets and there are plenty of daytrips, if you like to read buy a book called the Island by Victoria Hislop it is a great read and it is part fact about the island...there is a trip to an Island called Spinalonga which the book is about. We went on that trip and thoroughly enjoyed it, you have time to swim of the boat and a bbq, plus a guided tour of the island with was a leper colony years ago. There are lots and lots of trips we booked thru rep as there are touts but some dont turn up after taking your money we where told...how true this is I dont know.
There is a happy train which takes you all around the resorts and is very good for hopping on and of...we never got to do this but we will when we go next time.
There are quad bikes you can hire and lots of people get these to go up in the mountains, I never had the guts to use one haha....need to have nerves of steel!!!
The beach is fab, the people are so friendly and can't help you enough!!
As for the hotel, read the reviews on trip advisor you will not be dissapointed!! Michael and his staff are fab...people return here year after year...some we spoke to 13 years on the run!! The owner Michael and his family eat at the hotel and live in the grounds at the back..in a gorge bungalow. The food is lovely and there is some small scale entertainment on...lots of people take part as he is very attentive and speaks to all his guests and waves most of if he can when you leave...we didn't want to go home!!
The grounds are imaculate, as are the rooms...the aircon and fridge is free, beds changed regularly as are towels etc.
There are 3 pools, 1 adults only and 1 childrens then a large for both, you WILL ALWAYS get a sunbed as he has more than the number of guests so no towels on them at 5am lol!! it was ALL English when we went, apart from a few Irish...the Kareoke night was good and it gets you involved with guests if you want to...they had group all girls via all men guests...gets you mingling but nothing pushy.
We changed money before we went so can't help with that sorry.
I will say though that we found a big difference in drink prices but then again the euro is very poor at the min, there are happy hour offers and he does sell reasonable priced water etc for your rooms or by pool....whan was you thinking of going? where are you flying from and did you know you can go on cheep airlines to Crete now and book with hotel direct inc transfers etc? shop about and try a company called hays travel, if you live in North West try Direct Holidays...I know someone who is going to same hotel and there was a difference in £1000 for her family holiday with some tour operators...also be careful with Thomas Cook or Thompson ( cant remember which one exactly) but you only get 15k bag allow!!! not good if away 2 weeks.
Anymore help just let me know, but I will say if I was going away as a single person with a young child I would be scared in a foreign country but not at this hotel it is so safe and secure.

and whats wrong with
Nothing but there are 5 x as many on trip advisor and more recent too....dont get touchy now wizard haha...I am sure that holiday truths reviews have already been checked by this lady as she is on here asking for advice.....xxx
thanks for your help already booked for 28th may from humberside daughters half term well she not a child she is 16....feel at ease so much now thanks...so how long to nearest shop?and she is a fussy eater so what can off food do they do? total price for holiday is 781 which i thought a baragin as paid alot more for sc in august to sidari.
For e.g there is a whole line of salads and pastas, plates of meats and cheeses, greek & Italian dish each night, soup, fries, spagettii, poatoes, meat and fish dishes....honestly she will have something everynight...they also do chicken nuggets and fish fingers pizza etc for children but hey she can eat that too haha!! On a Wed or Thurs Michael has a bbq and it is all what I have just said plus kebabs, burgers.....and loads more.
The nearest shop is prob 10min walk max it is on beach road at the junction where I told you Malia 1 way and Stalis the other..it is the Malia way but literally 2 min walk. Dont buy water anywhere but the hotel as it is really cheap and you get 6 litres (seperate bottles) for a few euros its not worth carrying them.
There are cocktail offer nights and there is a movie night plus quiz's etc...he tries so hard honestly to make your holiday special.
There is a bus stop a few mins walk and it is 1.40 euros to Hersonisos which is a change of scenery if you want to try it, the buses I never do but there they are lovely air conditioned coaches and they are as regular as clockwork.
If u fancy a change and want to eat out go to Crete on the beach its about half way down the beach road on same side as the beach and it has amazing views and the loveliest staff, ask for a table by the sea...the prices are reasonable and the food is gorgeous.
Are you going for 1 week? that price is good...you will love it and the reason I am going to Sidari in May is because I have been told it is very similar to stalis...we go for 1 week to the Paradise appartments £480 for both of us....can't wait. Have to say though can't wait to get back to the Anastasia in September...anything else just ask xx
by the way meant to say the breakfast is a proper full english with pg tips Mmmm and loads of cereals etc..fruit and loads of juices.
if stalis is like sidari i have no problem at all so i go under underpass as u come out go right then left and it takes me in to stalis..at least i get that bit right thanks so much counting the days down thank you feel at ease now
yes thats right...now I dont want to confuse you but that takes u to the start of the beach road...if u want to cut some of it of go under the underpass turn left walk a few hundred yards to the second set of black gates and you can open gates to an appartment complex walk through and follow road to bottom it cuts of a long walk if you want to go to middle beach road area quickly...We always used this and loads of people do..the appartments have it so that people staying there can get to the bus stop...think its called knossos hotel...
if go the first way how long to stalis beach front think at first that will be the easiest way thank u and enjoy cant pm u on here for some reason
Just pm'd you let me know if u dont get it.
