In the same situation....booked on Emirates from BHX on 12th May...then onto Phuket after an overnight.
The insurance situation is now the problem...not really expecting to find trouble but the medical thing is important if something else should happen.
Emirates will probably do a change of destination if this situation continues another few days (currently only swapping people who fly up to 10th May)..but you pay the difference in cost.
Airasia will do a free change of destination but you also pay the difference...and prices have of course risen from KL and Singapore.
Tempted to just get Emirates to do a date change until November and book a charter to Florida for 2 weeks!
Best of news! FO lift their advisary against everywhere except Bangkok.

Happy travels everyone!
thank goodness
Given last night's events, the closure of the US & UK Embassies and the state of emergency being declared in quite a few areas in the north of Thailand I think the Foreign Office's advice about travel here might change again today.
has been reported here today that the red shirts general has been shot while doing an interview. i cant post links so you will have to google it sorry.
had a look at the live fire zone and our hotel is in the middle of it. It is looking a bit scarey at the moment. I can't see how the situation can return to normal for a long time.
