Came across this site a few months ago but they have just expanded it to include Manchester and Dublin with a view of including more UK airports in time.
It's 15 minutes behind live times actually but still makes great watching. I find it totally fascinating!!! I should get out more...hehe!!
There are better websites to be honest. Try Virtual Radar. I provide some data in to that site using ADS-B. This is close to real time. You might find the following thread of interest: Radar Virtuel
When using Radarvirtuel, I am aware of aircraft passing by - vapour trails - that don't appear on the screen. Does it only show aircraft at a certain flight level and if so, how do I change it ... it doesn't seem to appear in the filter selection area.
Aircraft need to be transmitting ADS-B and these signals need to be picked up by a base station. I have a base station and feed in to the website. Not all aircraft will show as it's dependant on the information being provided to the server. Some areas aren't covered or peoples pc's aren't running and streaming data or the aircraft aren't equiped.
Thanks Dazbo! I really enjoy following aircraft overhead, especially on late Sunday afternoons on the terrace in the sun with a glass of the local wine, as the sky is full of flights going west to east!
Don't forget, Bizjets and a lot of the mil flights may not track on these websites
Also the smaller passinger prop planes, ATR's Dash 8 and even Embraer Jets
don't show a track so it would certainly be possible to see a contrail and yet
not find a plane to match it on the website!
