This year there will be 14 of us, including 4 small children. Villas that meet all our requirements are not easy to find - and we are starting to panic about this years choice.
We booked the villa through a booking website, and when my cousin was in the area he went to visit to check it out. We should have known there was an issue as they were not keen to give us to the address. It seemed that a great deal of work needed to be done to get it fit for guests -- and this is underway. The owner will confirm on Thursday whether it is habitable ( trouble with workmen !! ) - and if not, they will find us an alternative..
Finally down to the question ! - is the owner within their rights to refuse to refund the deposite and instead insist on finding us alternative accomodation ??
When and where are you travelling?
the holiday starts on the 29th May and the villa is in Altea (costa blanca, spain)
Sorry, meant to say that if the villa is not habitable then, in my opinion, the owner has a duty to refund your deposit.
There is a catch - where is the owner? If the deposit was sent direct to Spain then English law isn't really relevant.
Did you get accommdoation sorted out?
What happened with the holiday? Did you go there, were offered an alternative or found somewhere else yourself?
I so hate when someone asks for help then forget to keep us updated...............Iwould love to know the outcome also.

Not only you! The many members who spend a great deal of time digging out information to help people feel the same.
In fact that is the only complaint about HT.
