Returned this morning from a week in PDC,4 lads aged 25-36 who have been to allsorts of similar resorts in spain, the canaries, greece, cyprus etc etc, just thought i'd share a few observations...
Nightlife-was 'ok' for an early season getaway,i work in Faliraki myself and would say that PDC is nowhere near as lively or fun as the greek party towns but then i suppose it's more of a family placve, that said there were a few good bars, especially 'REDZ' in the Atlantico centre, however all the 'young' bars are in this centre, which resembles a 1970's concrete arndale centre with a maze of indoor alleyways, which was a shame as if some of the bars were on the street they'd do well, expect for the fact they all insist on hiring 5 or 6 really shift, slimy looking moroccan PR's which mob you in the street more than i've ever seen happen in any other resort, they actually put us off the bars they worked for,we're all big lads so weren't at all intimidated but i can see how a group of young girls could be scared of going down there. I would recommend this resort for a cheap week away early season as it was REALLY cheap to eat and drink and it was sunny all week but i wouldn't want to be there in the height of summer as there's not really that many decent places for a night out, most bars seemed really run down and desperate,in terms of clubs, well there was 928 which was ok from about 4am onwards but empty until then, and the 'ache' bar which kind of doubled as a club but was really hot,run down and small, there was also nikki beach which was where all the more 'chavvy' elements seemed to be hanging out.Best bars were Linekers for the nice pint and welcome, even though they dont really play loud music and it was empty all week, atomic revolution which was good because they had really nice laid back staff and polite PR's and REDZ,which was absolutely mental every night with their insane DJ's and cheesy music,if every bar out there had the atmosphere of redz it would be the best resort in europe! most places have a happy hour which seems to last most of the night,4-5euros for a Budweiser/corona/stella,get one free,or 2 euros a pint seemed the standard prices.
Taxis are cheap as chips, you can get more or less anywhere in town for 3 euros and the airport was 12euros.
Food wise most of the restaurants were 'ok',the ones on the front were basic/average in quality, charging around 10-12 euros for a passable steak whereas somewhere like puerto bahia up on the cliff by the harbour charged 10euros for what i can only describe as the best sirloin i've ever eaten,so go to the old town/harbour and eat like a king for the same price as the run of the mill places on the avineda!
The beach was lovely but the water in the canaries is FREEZING,but that said i'm used to the Aegean sea so getting in the atlantic will always be a shock!
all in all a decent holiday for the price we paid and spends wise we only spent about350 euros each even though we ate in restaurants and went out drinking every night.
Many thanks for your report sambacasual
so a diver told me. Perhaps if you ever return between August-November
you might try it then! Its not really warmed up in May!
Have been in every Christmas day since we moved here, and I doudt you
would do that in the med!

Keith
i know the sea in tenerife in august was like the arctic, whereas in Rhodes in october it's still like a bath!
weather etc to lanzarote. There's no shortage of people in the sea here this afternoon!
Wish I was too, instead of being stuck in work!
Keith
but you're nuts Keith!!! I don't go in the sea ever, unless I can help it!!! Miles too cold for me whatever the temperature outside
But your a wimp, anyway stop sitting on your reading glasses!
The beaches and the weather, the sea for me never!!!
Waves are much more fun in canaries though!
try the sea in la manga del mar menor now that really is like a hot bath
