The schools usually send out letters saying not to take time off in May because of the exams!
I would try to find out soon because if the price goes up you will have to pay the extra on top of amendment fees!
Have you looked on the school website to see if they have had exams this year the week before half term? It usually says the exam dates on ours!
My son is now at College this year and has had exams this week up until Wednesday!

Have checked the website for the school, there is only 1 exam (chemistry), so I am hoping that this will be a good sign. The school policy is no time off in year 10 and 11. However there is no way I can afford the extra £1200 to go out of school time. I will have to wait until the exams come out. If need be I will have to re-book and downgrade to self catering, outside of school time..

There was 2 or 3 year 10 exams at my daughters school last week, which is the week before half term.

Thanks for the reply, I am looking around now trying to find something in half term, but there is a massive difference in price. I am also looking at dates in late July/early august next year. I dont think the schools know until Feb time, this could be too late to re-book.

I think that is the sensible thing to do! If you wait the availabilty will be limited because it is a busy period near the school holidays and the actual holiday!
Who did you book with? You have to factor in the amendment costs to! usually £35 per person per change, so sticking with the same hotel and Airport would be your cheapest option and then it is just the one change of date and £140 for 4 people.It will be more expensive in the height of summer but towards the end of August it drops a little! We are going on the 21st August this year for 2 weeks coming home on the 4th September to Belek and are back in time for the new term and it saved us a few hundred pounds!
I saw you mentioned going to another board option like SC but it may cost more in the long run! You would be talking about a few hundred pounds in amendment fees! There are not really any SC apartments in Belek in the brochures.

Have not checked for the late part of August, have booked through Thomas Cook. New term starts on 1st September next year, however I doubt if they wil be up to much as the 1st falls on a Thursday. What hotel are you going to ?

We are going to the superb Susesi Deluxe for a second time!
We have stayed at the same chain as the Atlantis before,the Limak Lara and it was excellent!
Yes the amendment fees are those I quoted earlier with TC.
I agree far better to miss a couple of days in September than miss the exams!
I would make you mind up soon because the good Belek hotels do sell out quickly. The Susesi as been sold out for many months as have most of the good hotels! Just the really expensive ones left for this summer!

Most exams (particularly year 10 ones) are finished by july... my daughters in year 11 and her last one is 16 june (2 weeks earlier than most of her friends though), so she is all of a sudden booked on a med cruise with my parents. Will have to do a very quick unpack wash iron repack as we fly to turkey within a few days

If I change dates its going to cost me £140, plus the extra cost of the holiday. At this moment its going to be a total extra payout of £800 to go in august....... :cry, so I have looked at a different location but this is also going to cost an additional £140 to change location (so to change date and location is £280).

I think I am going to have to wait until the school post dates, the extra money leaves me with little option.

We have managed to grab ourselves some bargin flights with Aegean flights, £130 with luggage flying from Doncaster, so we are going on the 8th June 2011 for 2 wks, its my hubbys and my 50th birthdays early next year so rather than have a party here we are going with family and friends to celebrate in the sun ( young at heart we both are ).
Just come bk from a wk in marmaris and going bk on the 27th this month,, love the place

We've booked the WOW Topkapi Palace for 31st May 2011 with TC.

2 weeks for 2 adults/2 children came in at £2227 which I think is good considering it's during half term

We've booked today! Going back to the same villa we went to this year in Hisaronu for two weeks on 13th May. £1020 for the villa, plus £160 for the flight each.

So a total of £1980 for six people. £330 each for a two week holiday, not bad!

we have booked to go back to club aida, 3rd October for two weeks - yippee!!

Gives you something to look forward to and usually you get a good bargin booking early!!

We've booked our first set of flights for next year - we did it while we were out in Gumbet recently. We fly out on 8 April and stay for 88 days (yes, I know - lucky me). We're shortly going to start looking for flights to Gumbet in August but may do it a roundabout way and fly to Istanbul, visit Cappadocia and then make our way to Bodrum later.

Does it work out cheaper to book now for next year?

I've been having a look round for next June, but they keep telling me no search results found.
I don't know where I'm going wrong
