From what I have read on all these posts the cheaper units are similar to some we have just bought for our naya (front terrace which is glazed like a conservatory). Basically they are wall mounted warm air heaters which can also blow cool air. They look like air conditioning units but they do not have the compressor and can be fitted on any internal wall. The ones we have bought are: Orbegozo Modelo SP-5043 230V~50Hz 2000W and cost 35 Euros each. We have also got air conditioning units fitted throughout our property (not the naya) and I can tell you that the warm air heaters are efficient and effective but are not as powerful as the air conditioning when it is switched to heating. Our air conditioning is "Carrier" which I believe is the Rolls Royce of air conditioning and quite honestly is not cheap but is worth the investment if you can afford it.

We are in Denia, Costa Blanca and bought our units in a local domestic electrical shop but I can tell you that the address on the instruction manual is: Sonifer S.A., Avenida de Santiago 86, 30.007 Murcia Spain. There is also an e-mail address which I'll let you have if you need it but I don't want to break any of the rules of this forum as I am a new poster here!
Orbegozo also make air conditioning units and I have heard good reports about them as a cheaper, alternative make of unit but I can't personally recommend them.
I am unsure as to whether you would be able to purchase these units on the Algarve but I guess it could be possible?

Forget 40e for aircon,it doesn't exist...i fit the stuff.You can heat with oil if your building is well insulated but it is less efficient than AC although gives a much more pleasant "radiant" heat whereas AC is just hot air which can be drying and create static.Portable AC is weak and noisy.The main difference between cheap and expensive split AC is noise levels.Good cheap machines are made by Panasonic and LG.Excellent machines are Daikin,Samsung,Sharp and Carrier among others.The rest is Ok but .....

Nobody has said that you can fit air conditioning for 40 Euros. The original post was an enquiry about how to get round the problem of heating/cooling a property without installing compressors on the external walls of a property which are not allowed because of the rules of the community. The units which are made by Orbegozo are new and so popular that they have now become unavailable as they can't make enough to meet the demand. Any fool knows that air conditioning/heating is far more expensive than 40 Euros but the Orbegozo units blow warm and cool air and whilst not air conditioning are not fans either!
Hope this clarifies the position for those who don't read all the posts thoroughly.

If I have ever heard a description of split AC then this is it.If it doesn't refrigerate then it doesn't cool,it just blows air around like a wall mounted fan heater with an option to turn off the heating coils.It might make you feel a little cooler but you'd probably find a ceiling fan a lot quieter due to the larger diameter of the fan creating equal airflow for lower RPM,but hey any fool should know that so why did I bother mentioning it.
Due to the nature of this discussion I should imagine a few readers would also be interested in some opinions on Aircon as well but if you don't think so Laguna maybe we should all shut up about it and talk about these fans you are pushing.

OT: I saw a couple of Aircon units (not portables) for sale in Carrefour at SC. The cheapest was about 180 euro, whilst the most expensive was about 500 euro, I think.

Are these units worth buying and fitting as a DIY job?

My last post was merely to clarify what I had originally posted and not to "push" anything.
I was also trying to assist the original posters with their problem of not being able to install compressors on the external walls of their property.
Also, "bolarsus" if you are going to use quotes from a post and aim them at a particular poster of a message maybe it would be useful to post the appropriate quote. I have never said:

Torrenter...can be tricky DIY,the physical mounting is quite easy but if you need to change the length of the pipes then you will have to adjust the system precharge with a special peice of kit and flare the pipe ends with another special tool; not a DIY job.Otherwise,try to look at the instructions to see if you need to use a vacumn pump on the pipework or if you can purge the lines with the units own gas.It's maybe starting to sound a bit technical?

No I don't know that make and I'm also based in the Algarve but there are quite a few new cheap makes these days.They seem fine to me,just a bit noisier and the build quality is a little lower.
