That's the sort of thing I like to do as well. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing I like better than relaxing on a lounger on the beach with a good book (as long as I have a sunshade of some kind - being Scottish and very pale, I don't do tanning!), but I'd get bored doing that all the time. I like to go off and explore the area I'm in and meet the locals.
