We're looking to go on a beach holiday with our 1 year-old. Ideally, we'd like to go to a beachfront resort with soft sandy beach and very warm sea water (so the toddler can go in the water with us). We'd also like to have the option of leaving him in a creche, so we could have lunch or dinner with just the two of us.
The ultimate dream resort would also be near a mountain/parkland where we could go hiking... do such places even exist?
I'd really appreciate your suggestions.
Probably not in the Algarve - we have no real mountains and precious little parkland. What isn't cultivated is golf courses although there is a national park out in the west of the region and another in the far east around Tavira.
Also most of the sea temperatures aren't that warm from what I've experienced.
Correct, the water is the north Atlantic not the Mediterranean. If you stay on the inside of the sandbars around Tavira or Cabanas it will be a bit warmer.
The sea's a bit rough and a bit chilly on The Algarve.
It's a lovely day out, but sadly not very near the coast.
