Heard an item on the radio the other day that I thought should be brought to attention of anyone planning to visit the USA.
When hiring a vehicle we are all tempted to take a chance on the various covers that we are offered. Not a very good idea. The way the car insurance regulations works in the USA whilst you are required to have insurance, the cover it gives in the case of an accident to a third party - YOU - can be very limited. The rules and requirements vary from one state to another so in the case of a serious accident/injury the other drivers insurance may not cover you.
The message that came across was to ensure that when hiring/insuring ask questions and make sure you do get the right cover.
