Heraklion airport is indeed small and cramped. When we were last there in October there were not enough seats for everyone (in late October?) but it all seemed to work OK. There is a duty free shop upstairs.

As you say, Rhodes airport seems enormous now that it has been doubled in size and the building works have been more or less completed.

no good to you at the moment but Iraklion is expecting their new airport by2015 [thecurrent one was built in the early 70's
