Hi
We are going to Madeira soon and I've read prices in Portugal are much lower this year than last (Moneysavingexpert.com). Does anybody know if this is the same in Madeira? Would be grateful for any info on average prices and restaurant recommendations.
Thanks
Prices are similar to the mainland I would say, unless you buy imported none Portuguese items.
Restaurant prices vary of course depending where you are and what you want to eat.
For instance there is a bar in Calheta offering 3 course meal with a drink and coffee for 5.95 Euros. OK so it is palatable but nothing special. A few hundred yards away at Calheta Beach Hotel 50 Euros will get you a very nice 3 course meal for 2 with drinks.
There are a couple of very nice restaurants in Prazeres, but you might be nowhere near them. You can have a lovely meal for 2, 3 courses with drinks for less than 40 euros.
Hope this helps.
