If you want a proper Spanish seaside/port town, have a look at Estapona.
Blue flag beaches, proper Spanish food at proper Spanish prices, not a single football shirt in sight

We stayed at the Marina where there are plenty of nice restuarants, but ventured into town every night to eat and drink (cheaper) at proper tapas bars.
Estapona is a Spanish holiday town but English is widely spoken and the people all so friendly and welcoming.
There are supposed to be a lot of Brits living there, but they weren't obvious.
Fantastic holiday, we would definitely go again.
I know this sounds like an advert for the Estapona tourist board (perhaps they should give me a job?), but just had a lovely time there and would happily pass on more info to anybody interested in going there.
