I am 40 in 2 years time and have decided that in the October of that year (25 months away lol!) that I want to go to New York! Am going to take my daughter with me who will be 15 then so think be lovely for us two to have good time together - hubby not interested in the slightest!!!
Anyway! Have been browsing around and getting an idea of prices and flipping heck! Ain't it expensive!!! Have been advised that it's best to stay around Times Square area because that is central to most things but bearing in mind the girl who told me this went 5 years ago and it was a quarter the price it is now! Even the Days Inn on Broadway is coming up at £900 for 4 nights WOW!!!
So - question to any New York "experts" - where is a reasonably priced, best place to look at staying!!!
I need help!!
Thank you
Have you checked out the New York forums, there's lots of info on hotels on there.
I stayed at the Radio City Apartments in Spring two years ago when I visited NYC, I paid around 420GBP for four nights but this was when the pound was strong against the dollar, also prices seem to increase each year.
RC Apartments are very central about 100 metres from Times Square and very handy for the Rockefeller Center, 5th Avenue and not too far from Central Park.
The apartments are a good 3 star. not luxurious but very clean, they range from studios to 1 and 2 bedroom appartments. I had a studio which had twin beds, a table and 2 chairs and a well equiped kitchenette area. The bathroom was spotless with fresh towels and toiletries being provided each day. Although I didn't cook any meals I did find the kitchenette useful for making snacks and drinks.
I would highly recommend the apartments for anyone wanting to stay in the Times Square area.

We stopped off on the way back from Florida last November and NY hotel prices were silly at about £200 per room per night for 3*. We ended up staying at the Westin in Jersey City through priceline or Hotwire and it was very good. You just took a train for 10 mins or so and it took you right to Macy's. Ok, it's not central but we got it for about £60 per night and it's a lovely hotel, it has a pool too, and is right next door to a good shopping mall (no tax on clothes in NJ either). It's very close to the station and feels safe. You can see across the river to NY.
