We tip waiters a fiver every three days if its the same one.

House-keepers a quid every day (as they can change each week)

Pool attendants who save our beds a fiver every 3 days or £2 sterling every day.

If eating in restaurants 10% of the bill.

I would take £50 sterling and change it here in the UK into Egyptian pounds, that will last you a few days if going A1

Always take sterling and change it in resort into Egyptian, its a better rate

Mostly it is the airport that is in $ but actually takes any currency. I would just take Egyptian, having been 10 times in all over the years only the first time i took $ and didnt really need them.

We're going to Egypt for the 1st time at Easter, but have been AI in places like the Caribbean before. I couldn't afford to tip that much. We give £5 to the restaurant waiter the 1st day and the same on the last. At the bar we give £1 a night, and leave bits & bobs for the maid throughout our stay. In any of the specialist rstaurants we tip whatever loose change we have.

This is what we usually do .

A tip to the sunbed man every couple of days . A couple of £ (20 EGP)

Tips to our favourite waiters or bar tenders . We usually give at least one of them 20 EGP each night (£2)

If the restaurant has a guy that seats you (many do) we would give him 20 EGP every few days too as this usually ensures a decent table.

guy that carries your bags to room .Same again but we usually only have £'s at that point so they get a couple of those and then we change some sterling up at the hotel once settled . Never bother to get any in advance.

room boy/cleaner I would usually give maybe 50 EGP (£5) a few days in but we have 2 rooms . Then another bit at the end . whatever we have left but no more than another 100 EGP (£10).

It is always best to tip them in EGP although they will happily accept £ coins although these they have to change up with English guests.

A good tip (excuse the pun) is to tip in advance in Egypt . You will always get good service but if you look after them they will treble that effort& run around like lunatics for you .

I would never over tip though . Seen Turkey change so much over the years as they have got used to our money coming in & greed has set in. I fear Egypt will only go the same way eventually as they get used to us and see westeners flashing their money around.

I gave the room maid 20 Egt pounds every other day and was well looked after. Also the waiter (if it was the same one) i gave 20 egt pounds every 3/4 days.

i never felt the need to tip people round the pool as never had any trouble getting sun beds.

I think you need to take your own circumstances into account, but what i've said may give you some ideas.

We mostly get the better wine at lunch and dinner not the table wine everyone else gets, i never even knew they did a better wine, so that was useful to know.

It depends on your budget and circumstances, even if you gave a few pence they would be pleased, wages are extremely poor to other countries.
