Just a couple of good news itmes for those who love Vegas and the surrounding areas:
Cosmopolitan (the new hotel next to City Center and Monte Carlo) opens in mid-December. They just got their gaming licence, too.
The former Ritz Carlton Hotel at Lake Las Vegas which closed a year or so back, has been sold to a European hotel chain, and will reopen in Spring 2011
So not only a few more venues, BUT over 7000 new jobs for the Las Vegas Valley!
I know there's another fancy place out at Lake Las Vegas. I'm assuming it's out near Lake Mead, but we've never been there.
Curious if anyone has been, maybe we'd stop out there in the car on our next trip.

Out at Lake Las Vegas, there is the Montelago Hotel and condos, although their casino is currently closed. There are also two championship golf courses, again currently closed, but being well maintained. The whole place filed for Section 11 bankruptcy protection, but was discharged in July 2010, with all debts wiped and $30Million in the bank, thanks to a refinancing deal.
We have friends who have condos on the Montelago development, and they kindly give us a pass to use the wonderful pools and gardens up there. We often spend the day there; it's quieter (and hotter!) and only 15 miles from the Strip.
The Montelago Hotel certainly looks luxurious!
