You could not choose a better place than Tenerife for New Year. We used to come here every year for Christmas and New Year prior to moving here and the atmosphere is brilliant, as Hairyhamster says 'everyone parties' no matter how young or old they are.

Hope you can convince your wife, you don't know what you will be missing

We've been for a couple of Christmas/New Years to Tenerife and had a brilliant time. Very few youngsters - it tended to be older couples and young families. Party hats and streamers in the bar/restaurants, fireworks galore at midnight. :tup

Hi Redpool,
Have you convinced your wife to go to Tenerife for NYE yet? I'm trying to convince my husband to go there over NYE and if we go, we should all meet up for a drink :cheers

It's brilliant! I am also a 40 something and had a great time. I have been about 5 times now over New Year and can highly recommend it. Its warm and everything is open. The only thing I did notice is that the you have to wait a lot longer for a taxi - normally there's loads sitting at the taxi rank all times of the day and night but there was a definate shortage the week I was there. However on the plus side the restaurants all seemed quieter for some reason, but not so in the bars, lively and good fun!!
