We have just came back from the same place in Corfu that we've been to 7 times now. It's a beautiful quiet place which is why I'm loath to mention it by name here. We've always booked with Portland Direct but this has now been taken over by Thomson. We always book about a year in advance as the apartments go quite quickly. On booking this time the on-line site told us that there were 3 rooms available with cot space and 1 with sea views but for an extra £28. I queried this with Thomson and received a phone call from someone that said they couldn't understand why we were charged extra but would pass my e-mail on. I finally received a reply stating that some rooms had a better view. I took the e-mail with me when we went this time to double check. The receptionist knew nothing about it and said that all rooms have sea views and that she would pass the e-mail onto the owners. I have since had an e-mail from her saying that the owners are not and have never charged extra for sea views. As these apartments are solely let to Thomson they are obviously now cashing in on the the fact that you either have to pay what they charge or rent a private villa which is a lot more expensive. Another example of a big conglomerate stitching up it's customers!
